Prepare the Scallops: Rinse the scallops under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Remove any side muscles if present.

Step 2

Season the Scallops: In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Cook the Scallops: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and bubbly.

Pat dry the scallops again with a paper towel to ensure they sear properly. Season both sides of the scallops with the spice mixture.

Carefully place scallops in the skillet in a single layer. Cook without moving them for about 2-3 minutes until nicely seared and golden brown on the bottom.
