These one-bowl brownies couldn't be easier to make, and adding leftover hot chocolate mix is the perfect way to make them extra special. Interested in a Mexican hot chocolate version? Just add 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the dry ingredients and sprinkle the top of each brownie with a pinch of chili powder.

Hot Chocolate Everything; Hot Chocolate Brownies

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, and spray with the cooking spray.

Stir together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a medium bowl. Add the flour, hot chocolate mix, salt and baking powder and stir until just combined. Stir in half the chocolate chips. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking pan.

Bake until the brownies begin to pull away from the edges of the pan and are set in the center, 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from the oven, immediately sprinkle with the remaining chocolate chips, and let stand until they are very soft, about 5 minutes. Spread the melted chips evenly with a spatula, and let cool for about 10 minutes. Use the foil to lift the brownies out of the pan, and let cool completely on a rack. Cut into 24 squares, and top each with 3 mini marshmallows.

A tad too salty. Next time I will use 1/2 tsp instead of 1tsp it calls for

I had some hot chocolate mix that we purchased when we were in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic that no one has used and was looking for a brownie recipe to use it in.  I followed the recipe exactly but did what one of your readers did and used 1/2 cup of white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar.  I did not put marshmallows on top because I don't really care for them, but did add a little fresh orange zest on the top of some and fresh, cut strawberries on top of others.  Delicious!

Turned out perfect!! I added about 1tbs of ground espresso to really enhance the chocolate flavour. My boyfriend and I loved them 

This is horrible! Everything liquified in the oven! Do not try this recipe! Waste of time and ingredients!

I used Starbucks Classic Hot Cocoa, which we don’t care for as a drink but makes an excellent cocoa bake! I increased the cocoa mix by 1/4c and added another 1/8tsp salt since the 1/2c seemed pretty skimpy to me. Also subbed  1/4c sugar with light brown sugar. I had old and dried out mini marshmallows in the pantry and used maybe 1cup of those and only 1/2c chocolate chips in the batter. When they came out of the oven after 30 min, I spread a thin even layer of chocolate chips over the top and smoothed them out once they melted with the back of a metal spoon. The chocolate layer on top made them prettier as well since the marshmallows rose a little bit but not in an appealing way. <div><br /></div><div>I let them cool and, while they were a touch cakey, the addition of the marshmallows and the choc chips was perfect. Little pockets of Fudgy marshmallow goodness! My family of four devoured half the tray in one go. Kids declared them delish and bake sale worthy. </div>

These brownies are awesome  best recipe ever I do not like that a lot of people say they are bad they are great they did not cook it right if it made a mess in there oven<br />

My son and I made this as a project together and it was fun and taste amazing!!

These are fantastic! I have picky kids who don’t really like to try things from scratch that they like from a box and these were a hit! They definitely don’t take an hour and 45 min to make. 

I can bake them for Christmas and a bake sale!
