Step 1
Stir 1 teaspoon granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon together on a small, flat plate; spread into an even layer.
Step 2
Quarter 1 of the medium limes. Run 1 piece over the rim of an old-fashioned or margarita glass to moisten. Invert the glass into the cinnamon sugar, turning it as needed, to coat the rim. Fill the glass with ice.
Step 3
Juice the lime pieces plus 1 additional medium lime until you have 3/4 ounce. Place the lime juice, 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce apple cider, and 1 ounce cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker halfway with ice. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold and frosty, about 20 seconds.
Step 4
Pour through a strainer into the glass. Garnish with 3 thin apple slices and 3 cranberries if desired.
