Step 1
Place a layer of graham crackers in a 9x13" dish, completely covering the bottom.
Step 2
Combine dry chocolate pudding mix and 1 & 1/4 cups milk; beat until well mixed and beginning to thicken. Stir in 1/2 of the Cool Whip.
Step 3
Spread chocolate pudding mixture evenly over the graham crackers. Top with another layer of graham crackers, completely covering the chocolate pudding.
Step 4
Combine dry vanilla pudding mix and 1 & 1/4 cups milk; beat until well mixed and beginning to thicken. Stir in remaining 1/2 of the Cool Whip.
Step 5
Spread vanilla pudding mixture evenly over the graham crackers. Top with a final layer of graham crackers, completely covering the vanilla pudding.
Step 6
In a medium-sized saucepan, bring cocoa, granulated sugar, and milk to a full rolling boil; boil about 1 minute, stirring very frequently.
Step 7
Remove from heat and cool one minute. Add butter and vanilla; stir until butter is melted.
Step 8
Immediately pour chocolate topping over the top layer of graham crackers. Spread evenly to completely cover graham crackers.
Step 9
Cover and refrigerate over night.
Step 10
Keep in mind when making it, this dessert must chill overnight. Chilling overnight allows everything to meld together and the graham crackers to soften.
Step 11
Break graham crackers, as needed, to completely fill the pan when making each graham cracker layer.
