Once you try healthy homemade granola, you won't go back to the store-bought variety. Not only is it better for you, but it's also incredibly easy to make. All you need is a sheet pan and basic pantry ingredients. If you love chocolate and you love granola, you're going to love this chocolate granola recipe. You'll finally have a good reason to start your day with chocolate. 

Easy Healthy Homemade Chocolate Granola

rolled oats

sunflower seeds

of pumpkin seeds

of ground flaxseeds

coconut smiles

cocoa powder

salt

coconut sugar

coconut oil, melted

vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

ombine most of the dry ingredients. This includes the oats, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut smiles, cocoa powder, and salt.

Whisk together remaining ingredients. 

This includes the coconut sugar, coconut oil and vanilla extract. Then drizzle it over the dry ingredients and give everything a good toss until it’s evenly mixed. 

Spread mix evenly across pan. 

Line a baking sheet and pour the granola mix from the large bowl on top. Spread out evenly across baking pan to ensure even cooking. Lightly press down with a spatula to help create clumps in granola. 

Bake for 20 minutes

Baking slow and low is the secret to making healthy homemade granola. Any hotter than 350 degrees and you'll burn parts of your mix before it's ready. The nuts, seeds, and coconut smiles may burn before the batch has a chance to dry out and crisp up. Keep an eye on your mixture, stir it from time to time, and remove it from the oven when it's golden brown.

Let cool

Store in airtight container

in a dark cupboard at room temperature. It will last for up to one month. 

I used your recipe variation guide to turn up the warming spice, by adding nutmeg and cinnamon. I loved it. Will definitely be making this again.

This delicious vanilla almond oil-free granola is great for topping yogurt, as a plant-based, homemade cereal or just as its own for a perfectly healthy snack. It is really easy to make as well as being refined sugar-free and gluten-free.

Vanilla Almond Oil-Free Granola

oats

Daily Crunch Sprouted Almonds

chia seeds

almond butter

maple syrup

almond extract

tsp vanilla extract

cinnamon

tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine old-fashioned rolled oats, almonds and chia seeds.

In a separate, glass measuring cup add almond butter and maple syrup. Heat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds then stir until well combined.

To the oats, add in almond butter mixture, almond extract, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix everything together thoroughly.

Transfer mixture to a baking sheet and evenly spread out.

Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.

Easy Vegan Granola Recipe 

Real Maple Syrup

tsp Vanilla Extract

Salt

Cinnamon

Rolled Oats (not Instant), Gluten-Free if necessary

Pumpkin Seeds

Almonds

Walnuts

Unsweetened Coconut Flakes

Preheat the oven to 325F. Add the Maple Syrup, Nut/Seed Butter, Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, and Salt to the base of a large bowl. Whisk until evenly incorporated.

Pour the Oats, Pumpkin Seeds, Almonds, and Coconut into the bowl and fold them into the wet mixture, until all pieces are evenly coated. Transfer this mixture to a greased or lined baking tray and press it into a thin, even layer using a spatula.

Bake for 20 minutes on the bottom rack of the oven, then remove and use a spatula to toss/flip the granola. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 6-7 minutes, then remove.

Immediately sprinkle the Chocolate Chips or Dried Fruit over the Granola, using a spatula to gently toss the mixture. If you’d like the Chips to completely melt, stir them a bit more until they melt completely. Let the Granola and Chocolate cool completely on the tray before removing.

Serve as desired; store leftovers at room temperature or in the fridge (recommended for crunchier granola) for up to one month.

I love this recipe, the funny part is, I made it exactly like yours but came up with it on my own through experimentation, I just found yours and your site, what an awesome site. I use gluten free oats and I make my own nut/almond butter and use that. I live in the middle of almond orchards so almonds on the cheap come easy.

Use parchment paper and bottom shelf. That worked perfectly

I’ve been on the hunt for a good clean granola recipe for so long. I don’t like to buy in stores and I wanted a recipe with very few and REAL ingredients. This one is perfect!!! I made it- so easy and it’s delicious!!!! I’ve been snacking on it all day!!

This is now my go-to granola!! I love it. I usually add about 3/4 of dried fruit (more coconut flakes, dates, and craisins - yum!). Maple syrup is super expensive where I live, so I use honey instead and it's amazing! Thank you for sharing this recipe!!

Awesome granola! I prefer this to all the other (many, many) granola recipes I've made with oil. Granola tastes so much better without oil, I think oil gives it a weird aftertaste. This is better than any store-bought granola I've ever tried! I have a nut allergy so I subbed the nut butter for sunflower butter butter and added chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pepitas, and raisins. I make this so often - it’s one of my favourite recipes! So versatile - I’ve used both 1/3 cup maple syrup and 1/4 cup (more cost effective) and they both yield the same results. Thanks !

This hits the granola spot for me! I used 1/3 of unroasted cashew butter, 1/3 cup agave nectar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Then I put more cinnamon because “Duh”! 

I ate some with 1/2 perfectly ripe banana and some soy milk. I added hemp seeds. I’m going to make more, I’ll definitely do a chocolate chia seed granola as well as a peanut butter one. I think I would stick cranberries, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, and maybe cashews or raisins in this vanilla neutral-tasting granola. 

It’s perfect. Sometimes I just want to eat granola and nothing else with it. This is the kind you can do that with because it will never skimp you on flavor. 

Thanks for a new way for me and my toddler to enjoy our beloved rolled oats! (We buy 6 lbs a month, lol!)

This granola is super easy to make and absolutely delicious. I also like that it is versatile enough to use whatever nuts, etc. I have on hand. It is so good, it is hard to keep it in the house very long. We even find ourselves eating it for dinner sometimes. : ) Thank you for sharing it with us.

This is the recipe I've been looking for. I made it with almond butter and subbed pecans for the almonds. So yummy. I had to make myself stop eating, or I might have eaten the entire batch in one sitting! I can't wait to experiment with other combinations.

This Healthy Chocolate Granola recipe is a low sugar treat that's perfect for breakfast, dessert, and snacking! It's made with oats, nuts, cocoa powder, and maple syrup.

Healthy Chocolate Granola Recipe

nuts

coconut flakes (optional)

tsp salt

coconut oil

vanilla

chocolate chips chocolate bars chopped

Preheat oven to 325F and line baking sheet with parchment paper

In a large bowl, mix together oats, nuts, coconut flakes, and salt.

In a saucepan, heat coconut sugar, cocoa powder, maple syrup and coconut oil over medium heat. Let cook for 3-4 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.

Pour saucepan mixture onto oat mixture and stir until combined.

Pour onto baking sheet and press into flat sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes total.

Once fully baked, top with chocolate chips immediately. Stick back in oven for 5 minutes until chips are melted. Stir granola, letting melted chocolate cover all of the granola.

Let cool for one hour before breaking apart.

Very good recipe.  I did add a little extra coconut oil and maple syrup bc it seemed dry from the coconut flakes.  Also added a bit of coffee powder bc....coffee and choc:)  Thank you Erin, it’s a keeper

I've made this recipe about 6 or 7 times and I swear it is better every time. The amount this recipe makes usually lasts my boyfriend and I about 1 to 1.5 weeks. He eats it with Greek yogurt for breakfast and I eat it anytime I'm craving a chocolate snack.  It's super clustery and chocolatey without being sickly sweet. I just made this today, and OMG AMAZING!!!!  I was running low on nuts but found a package of slightly outdated hazelnuts in my pantry..... so i used a combo of hazelnuts and slivered almonds! I can't wait until breakfast tomorrow. will top with plain greek yogurt and fresh strawberries!!!!!  It was so hard not to keep nibbling on the pan as it was cooling this afternoon!!

Fun story, this granola is great for nursing mommas (accidentally ate a ton and almost drown my nursing baby girl, haha!)

I excluded the extra chocolate chips but even with that, feel SO much power from the coco powder and loved it.

This granola is wonderful! I actually ended up omitting the coconut sugar because we had run of all solid sugars. I don't like super sweet things anyways and so I thought this sweetness level was just right for me. I also halved the coconut oil (again, we ran out––quarantine life!) and thought that the granola after cooling was still incredibly crunchy and clumpy... I can imagine the full amount of oil would only make it even more delicious. Loved the addition of coconut, too! It was overall very easy, tasty, and way more affordable than store bought versions especially because it makes such a large amount! I'll be making this again for sure!

BETTER THAN ANY STOREBOUGHT GRANOLA. I'd always believed I'd found the best granola ever (Love Crunch). But this recipe was incredible and I can't believe I made something that tastes better than what I could buy. This granola has the PERFECT flavor profile and proportions: rich chocolate flavor, perfect sweetness, a little saltiness, a teeny hint of warm coconut (didn't add coconut flakes), and bites of nuttiness (I highly recommend walnuts). Also super fun and easy to make!

I recently bought a 5 lb bag of gf oats at Costco and have made quite a few granola recipes, but this one is by far my favorite!! It’s so good and so easy to make! Do I need to stir the granola half way through the cook time (not just when adding the chocolate chips?) Or just leave it to bake for the 25-30 mins, and only stir when it’s chip time?

No amount of words can describe my love for this granola. I can literally eat half of the pan within a few hours of it coming out of the oven. That is how good it is. I did not think I was a granola person until I tried this recipe! It doesn't last more than two days in my house (and there's only two of us who live here LOL oops)

Ok this is the best granola I’ve ever made, and I’ve made a lot of granola. Seriously so addictive... we ate it in 2 days and we’re a family of 3. Even my mom loved it and she doesn’t like chocolate desserts usually. My dad said it’s the best granola he’s ever had. Seriously the perfect balance of bitter sweet acidic (umami??) addictive chocolatey goodness. And the mixture you stir in the granola can double as a vegan hot fudge if you have some ice cream lying around!!

This healthy coconut granola uses only natural sweeteners and tastes incredible! This is my mom&#x27;s famous homemade granola and it&#x27;s sure to become a staple for you as well!

Mom's Healthy Date &amp; Coconut Granola

almonds

coconut flakes

pecans (, chopped)

tsp cardamom

½ tsp ground ginger

nutmeg

honey

peanut butter

dates ((about 7), chopped)

Preheat oven to 325ºF.

In a large mixing bowl, combine all the oats, nuts, seeds and spices. Stir to combine.

In a small saucepan, add the oil, syrup, honey and peanut butter. Cook on low until everything is melted together. Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until fully combined and all the dry ingredients are coated.

Spoon the contents of the mixing bowl onto a baking sheet. Bake the granola 35 - 45 minutes, stirring every 10 - 15 minutes, until the granola has browned. Make sure to stir it to avoid burning it.

When the granola has finished baking, stir in the chopped dates.

Cool fully before adding placing in an airtight container. Serve with your choice of milk, yogurt or use as a topping!

My Mom’s Nutty Date & Coconut Granola

Homemade Healthy Granola

coconut

raisins

cranberries

pecan nuts

oranges

unsalted butter

golden syrup

Preheat oven to 130°C.

Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with baking paper (half sheet measurement)

Add rolled oats, coconut, raisins, cranberries, almonds, pecan nuts, pepitas, salt and orange zest to a large bowl.

Add butter, maple syrup and golden syrup to a small saucepan. Simmer on low heat for 5-6 minutes until butter has completely melted. Mix well.

Add the butter mixture to the bowl with the oat mixture. Mix thoroughly until the butter mixture coats everything evenly.

Tip the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet (half-sheet sized / 46cm X 33cm / 18 in X 13 in). Spread evenly to completely cover the baking sheet with the granola mixture. Press down on the mixture with a wooden spoon or spatula and compact it (this step is very important if you want chunks of granola)
