Homemade Poke Bowls with Ahi Tuna

tuna

soy sauce

rice vinegar

sesame oil

red pepper flakes (crushed)

onions

sesame seeds (plus more for garnish)

brown rice (or white rice, cooked)

salad greens

Wash the rice under running water and cook it according to the manufacter&#039;s instructions.

In a medium-sized bowl combine ahi tuna, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Serve immediately or refrigerate covered for up to 2 hours before serving. Toss to recombine in the sauce before serving.

Add cooked rice, salad, poke and desired toppings to each bowl.

Homemade Ahi Tuna Poke Bowls

Who knew it was so easy to bring your favorite sushi home? This easy Poke Bowl Recipe  is packed with sushi-grade ahi tuna seasoned with soy, honey, and plenty of sesame. It&#039;s served with sticky brown rice, tons of veggies and these easiest spicy mayo on the planet. 

Poke Bowl Recipe

lb sushi-grade ahi tuna

tbsp sesame oil

tbsp rice vinegar

tsp honey

light mayo

tsp sriracha

brown rice

cucumber

shredde carrots

edamame

avocados,

tbsp black sesame seeds

tsp green onion

Use a sharp knife to cut tuna into a dice. Add tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and honey to a medium bowl. Toss to combine. Let the tuna sit while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Add mayo and sriracha to a bowl. Stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Soon into a ziplock bag. Cut the tip off.

Divide cooked rice between four bowls. Spoon tuna on one part of the rice. Surround with a pile of the cucumber, edamae, and carrot. Spread half of an avocado on top of the bowl. Drizzle the spicy mayo over the bowl. Sprinle with green onon and sesame seeds.

This is a basic Hawaiian poke bowl recipe with ahi tuna, simple soy marinade and warm sushi rice with a few extra toppings of your choice. The recipe is for 1 lb / 450-500 grams of fish, which you can divide between 2-4 bowls, depending on other toppings. Feel free to make a smaller or larger batch of poke fish.

tbsp. shoyu (Japanese soy sauce, ideally)

avocado oil

salt

chilli flakes

green onions

garlic, chopped

tbsp. ginger, chopped

sweet white onion, sliced

Prepare sushi rice to be served warm with your poke bowl. You can also use short-grain or medium-grain rice if you can&#8217;t get sushi rice. Substitute for cauliflower rice, steamed greens, etc. as desired. Sushi rice is the most authentic way to prepare a base for your fish.

Prepare 1 lb. 450-500 g of sushi-grade raw ahi tuna. 

Mix all fresh ingredients in a bowl and toss fish. You can eat right away, no need to marinate for a long time.

Serve cold over warm sushi rice and garnish with your favourite furikake or seaweed seasonings, and any other toppings you desire.

Start by cooking your rice.

While that is going, put salmon in a glass bowl. Whisk together marinade ingredients. Let sit for 20 minutes while your rice cooks.

Meanwhile, whisk all sriracha sauce ingredients together, and set aside.

When rice is finished, top bowls with salmon, and toppings of choice. My favorite combination is avocado, sesame seeds, green onions, sesame oil, and sriracha sauce.
