Crockpot Ham Recipe with Maple Brown Sugar Glaze

ham (unsliced, bone-in ham)

apple juice

Start by trimming excess fat and skin from the ham.

Use a paring knife to slice a grid pattern into the ham.

Add ham and 1 cup of apple juice to slow cooker.

Heat for 5-6 hours on low, until heated through.

Remove ham from slow cooker and let rest for 20 minutes.

Prepare glaze.

Bring pure maple syrup, dark brown sugar, mustard, pepper and cornstarch to a boil.

Let boil 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly until mixture starts to thicken. Add orange juice.

Let glaze cool for about 5 minutes.

Pat ham dry and spoon glaze over ham.

Heat ham under broiler 5-7 minutes until glaze has caramelized.

Crock Pot Ham | Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Ham

Fully-cooked ham (approximately 7 to 8 pounds (*see Notes below))

Remove ham from the packaging and discard any flavoring packet. If using a bone-in ham, check the end of the bone for a plastic cap and, if present, discard.

Pour the pineapple juice in bottom of a large (6.5- to 8-quart), oval slow cooker.

In a medium bowl, mix the brown sugar, Dijon, balsamic vinegar, and honey into a paste. Spread brown sugar mixture all over ham and place, flat side down, in slow cooker.

Cover slow cooker with lid and set to low. Cook ham for 4 to 6 hours or until the meat is tender and the internal temperature reaches 140°F. If desired, flip and baste the ham halfway through cooking time and again about an hour before ham is done.

Once ham is done, remove to a platter and tent with foil to keep warm. Skim any fat and strain the juices from the crock pot into a saucepan. Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and bring the juices to a simmer. In a small bowl, use a fork to stir the cornstarch into the water to make a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the pot while whisking the ham juices. Allow the mixture to bubble and thicken for a minute or two, stirring occasionally. If you desire a thicker sauce, you may stir in a bit more cornstarch slurry. Do not add straight cornstarch to the hot liquid or it will clump, and do not over stir the sauce once the cornstarch has been added or it may not thicken properly.

Serve the ham warm, with the sauce on the side or drizzled on top. If you prefer an oven-cooked ham effect, you may also glaze the entire ham with thickened sauce and pop it under the broiler for about 5 minutes (watch it closely!) before serving.

Fill your kitchen with the smell of Christmas with this slow cooked gammon. The cola adds a sweet treacly flavour to balance the saltiness of the ham.

Slow cooker gammon in cola

1.5-1.8kg unsmoked boneless gammon joint

2l cola (not diet)

carrot,

onion,

celery,

cinnamon

peppercorns

bay leaf

tbsp wholegrain mustard

tbsp red wine vinegar

Set your slow cooker to medium. Place the gammon joint in and cover with the cola. Add 1 chopped carrot, 1 quartered onion, 1 chopped celery stick, 1 cinnamon stick, ½ tbsp peppercorns and 1 bay leaf.

Cook for 5½ hrs on low until the gammon is tender but still holding its shape, topping up with boiling water if necessary to keep the gammon fully covered.

Carefully pour the liquid away, then let the ham cool a little while you heat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Lift the ham into a roasting tin, then cut away the skin leaving behind an even layer of fat. Score the fat all over in a criss-cross pattern.

Mix the maple syrup, mustard, vinegar and ground cloves or five-spice in a jug. Pour half over the fat, roast for 15 mins, then pour over the rest and return to the oven for another 30 mins.

Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 mins, then spoon more glaze over the top. Can be roasted on the day or up to two days ahead and served cold.

Unwrap spiral ham, throwing away the glaze packet included.

Place ham into slow cooker insert, turning so that the lid closes tightly and that the spiral slices are facing upward. You will want to separate the slices so that the liquid and brown sugar can get in the crevices.

Pour Orange Cream Soda over the ham.

Pat the brown sugar all over the surface of the ham in a thick layer.

Heat on low for 4 to 5 hours, basting once or twice with the cooking juices.

You can turn slow cooker to the warm setting to keep ham warm as needed.

Place the ham in a crock pot cut side down.  Rub the brown sugar on the outside of the ham.  Pour the honey and pineapple juice over the top of the ham.

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees F and the ham is tender.

Move the ham to a serving platter and cut the ham off of the bone.  Remove and dispose of any excess fat.  Then drizzle the excess sauce from the crock pot over the ham when serving.  Enjoy!

Spray the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray. Remove ham from packaging and place in slow cooker. (If the ham doesn&#039;t as is, you can cut it to make it fit.)

Make the glaze by combining the brown sugar, dijon, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl. Pour over the ham.  Cook ham at low heat for 3-5 hours or until thermometer reads 140 degrees. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Pour on glaze from the slow cooker.

So easy, turns out perfect every time. 
I use 1/2 the dijon &amp; add 1 tbsp maple syrup &amp; ground black pepper.

I can fit 1.5 Costco hams in my slow cooker for a bigger meal.

Slow Cooker Spiral Ham is tender and juicy, made with a pre-cooked and sliced spiral ham slow cooked in a pineapple, honey, and brown sugar glaze, perfect for the holidays!

Slow Cooker Spiral Ham

Add 1 cup of brown sugar to the slow cooker, spreading out to cover the bottom of the pot.

Place the spiral ham on top of the brown sugar, so the ham is on its side and you can easily separate the slices. Place another 1/2 cup of brown sugar on top of the ham, trying to get some of it between the slices. Drizzle the honey over the ham, then pour the pineapple juice over everything.

Close the slow cooker lid and set on low for 4-5 hours, or until the center of the ham is 140°F on a meat thermometer. Use a ladle to baste the top of the ham with the cooking liquid before serving.

If you want more caramelization (optional), remove the ham and place it in a baking dish. Sprinkle another 3-4 tablespoons of brown sugar on top of the ham and broil in the oven for 3-4 minutes, or until the sugar has melted and caramelized.

I used this recipe for a potluck but knowing it would be a mess to cut at the potluck, we went ahead and sliced it up before cooking, layering the slices with the brown sugar, crushed pineapple, and drizzled honey in between the layers of ham slices. I didn’t but would have looked nice with pineapple slices on too.  I guess it was a hit because the crockpot came back with one slice in it. I tried it and it was really good!
