Pour peaches and all their syrup into the dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar if using.

Evenly sprinkle dry cake mix over the fruit—do not stir.

Top with thin slices of butter, covering most of the surface.

Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden and bubbling at the edges.

Step 6

Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
