Air Fryer Donuts are bite-sized balls of dough and sugar with less fat than traditional donuts! This cinnamon sugar coating makes them irresistible.

Air Fryer Donuts

vegan butter (melted, for coating)

sugar (for coating)

cinnamon (for coating)

gluten free flour

crispy gluten-free cereal

tbsp sugar

tbsp baking powder

salt

vegetable shortening

milk

In a small pan, melt vegan butter and pour into small bowl. In a second bowl, combine cinnamon with 1 cup sugar.

In a mixing bowl, mix flour, cereal, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder, and salt. Fold in shortening.

Stir until mixture is crumbly. Add milk.

Roll mixture into 1-inch balls.

Place donut holes into air fryer basket. Cook for about six minutes at 380°F. Shake the basket halfway through cooking.

When donut holes are done, carefully remove from basket. Dip each ball into melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar.

Serve and enjoy!

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, gently stir together lukewarm milk, 1 tsp of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy (If nothing happens your milk was too hot or the yeast is too old, so start over).

Add sugar, salt, egg, melted butter and 2 cups of flour to the milk mixture. Mix on low speed until combined, then with the mixer running add the remaining cup of flour slowly, until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. Increase speed to medium-low and knead for 5 minutes, until the dough is elastic and smooth.

Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place until doubled. Dough is ready if you make a dent with your finger and the indention remains.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, punch it down and gently roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out 10-12 donuts using a 3-inch round cutter and a 1-inch round cutter to remove center.

Transfer donuts and donut holes to lightly floured parchment paper and cover loosely with greased plastic wrap. Let donuts rise until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes. Preheat Air Fryer to 350F.

Spray Air Fryer basket with oil spray, carefully transfer donuts to Air Fryer basket in a single layer. Spray donuts with oil spray and cook at 350F until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Repeat with remaining donuts and holes.

While the donuts are in the Air Fryer, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in hot water one tablespoon at a time until the icing is somewhat thin, but not watery. Set aside.

Dip hot donuts and donut holes in the glaze using to forks to submerge them. Place on a wire rack set over a rimmed baking sheet to allow excess glaze to drip off. Let sit until glaze hardens, about 10 minutes.

In a large measuring cup, add 1/2 cup warm water, 1/4 cup warm milk (108 degrees Fahrenheit), 2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.

Let the yeast mixture froth up and rise for about 5 minutes. If it doesn’t froth up, discard it and start again with new yeast.

Now in a stand mixer, add 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup unsalted melted butter, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled off), and ½ teaspoon salt. Then pour in the yeast mixture and pace the hook attachment on.

Begin mixing on low speed until the flour is incorporated into liquids. Then take the speed up to high and beat for 5 minutes. Then scrape down the sides of the beater bowl.

If the dough looks too sticky, add 1 tablespoon of flour at a time. Make sure to mix well and scrape down the sides of the bowl between each addition of flour. You don’t want to add too much flour or the donuts will be too dry. They should have a slightly sticky texture to them.

Now place the dough in a large greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise for about one hour or until it doubles in size.

When the dough is ready, punch it down to release air bubbles. Then transfer it to a floured surface

My larger biscuit cutter was 4 inches in diameter and the smaller one was 1 1/4 inches in diamter.

Now place the cut out donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper then cover them lightly and let them rise again for about 20-30 minutes.

Preheat your air fryer to 345 degrees Fahrenheit. Then spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.

Now place a few donuts into the air fryer basket and spray them with some more cooking spray. Make sure that the donuts are not touching.

Air fry the donuts for about 4 minutes. Repeat this process with the remaining donuts and donut holes. Then transfer the donuts onto a plate lined with paper towels.

Rise 1 more time, then air-fry

To make the glaze, in a large bowl combine 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tablespoon light corn syrup, and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

While the donuts are warm dip them in the glaze and let them set on a cooling rack. The glaze sets shinier when the donuts are hot, so you don’t want to let them cool down first.

How to make the BEST Air Fryer Donuts

These are a quick and easy air fryer donuts that use store bought biscuit dough. The glaze is similar to the famous Krispy Kreme donut recipe!

Biscuits (one can,

Evaporated Milk

Using a baking hole punch, punch hole in the center of biscuit to form a donut shape.  Keep the centers for making donut holes!

Spray the air fryer basket lightly with oil and place four donuts in it, leaving space to expand. Spray donuts with oil. 

Cook at 390 degrees for five minutes 

Make the Donuts

Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, melted butter and evaporated milk until completely combined.

Place donuts on cooking resting rack over a baking sheet. 

Pour glaze over the donuts. Place a tray under the cooling rack to catch any glaze that drips off.  Re-glaze donuts several times.

Mix powdered sugar, milk and corn syrup in a bowl and whisk well to combine.

Cut a circle out of the center of each biscuit using a small 1" cutter.

Place 4-5 pieces of the dough in the air fryer.

Cook 3 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 2-3 minutes or until browned.

Remove from the air fryer and while warm, brush with butter. Combine sugar &amp; cinnamon, toss donuts in sugar mixture.
