Air Fryer Fish

(28 ounces, 800 grams) fish fillets

olive oil (or vegetable oil)

paprika

chili powder

black pepper

garlic powder

onion powder

salt

tartar sauce

lemon wedges

If using frozen fish fillets, defrost them. Drizzle with olive oil, and make sure that the fish is well coated with oil.

In a shallow dish, mix the bread crumbs with paprika, chili powder, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and salt.

Coat each fish fillet in bread crumbs, and transfer to your air fryer basket.

Cook in the air fryer at 390°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes. After the first 8-10 minutes, open the air fryer and flip the fish fillets on the other side then continue cooking.

Preheat your air fryer to 350 F.

Mix the panko/breadcrumbs and the ranch dressing mix together. Add in the oil and keep stirring until the mixture becomes loose and crumbly.

 Dip the fish fillets into the egg, letting the excess drip off.

Dip the fish fillets into the crumb mixture, making sure to coat them evenly and thoroughly.

Place into your air fryer carefully.

Cook for 12-13 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets.

Remove and serve. Squeeze the lemon wedges over the fish if desired.

Air Fryer 3 Ingredient Fried Catfish is a quick and easy low-calorie, low-fat and low-carb recipe. This recipe is crispy and crunchy!

Air Fryer 3 Ingredient Fried Catfish

catfish fillets

Louisiana Fish Fry Coating

olive oil

tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Pat the catfish dry.

Sprinkle the fish fry onto both sides of each fillet. Ensure the entire filet is coated with seasoning.

Spritz olive oil on the top of each filet.

Place the filet in the Air Fryer basket. Do not stack the fish and do not overcrowd the basket. Cook in batches if needed. Close and cook for 10 minutes on 400 degrees. 

Open the air fryer and flip the fish. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.

Open and flip the fish.

Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until desired crispness.

Top with optional parsley.

Air Fryer Fish and Chips (Low FODMAP, Gluten-Free)

russet potatoes (about 2 large potatoes), chopped lengthwise into ¼ inch pieces

Prepare Condiments (Optional)

If using them, prepare homemade ketchup and homemade tartar sauce. Set the saucepan of ketchup somewhere to cool and cover and refrigerate tartar sauce until ready to serve.

Prepare the Chips

Add chopped potatoes to a large bowl. Add garlic-infused olive oil and toss with your hands to coat. Add salt and pepper and toss again to coat. Spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil cooking spray. Add the potatoes to the basket and evenly distribute. Add the air fryer lid to the Instant Pot Duo Crisp (or put your air fryer basket in your comparable air fryer). Press the "Air Fry" button, set temperature to 400°F, set the timer for 7 minutes, and press the "Start" button (this procedure will differ for other air fryer models - consult your manual). Cook for 21 minutes at 400°F or until the chips are tender and golden brown, tossing the basket every 7 minutes.* Once cooked, pour the chips from the air fryer basket onto a baking sheet and keep them in a place to keep warm, such as an oven set to 200°F.

Prepare the Fish

Meanwhile, while the chips are cooking, dry the haddock fillets as best you can with paper towels and place on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice the fillets in half lengthwise to make 6 smaller fillets (which I refer to as “mini-fillets.)”

Set up your Dredging Stations

  Place 3 medium-sized bowls and a large piece of parchment paper on the countertop. The bowls are your “dredging stations.” To Dredging Station #1, add tapioca flour, ¼ tsp of sea salt and ¼ tsp pepper, and whisk to combine.  To Dredging Station #2, add 1 large egg and oil, and whisk until egg is beaten and the oil is thoroughly mixed in egg. To Dredging Station #3, add quinoa flour, ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp sea salt and ¼ tsp ground black pepper, and whisk to combine.

Bread Fish

Using your hands, dredge your mini-fillets, one at a time, first in dredging station #1 with the tapioca flour, then in dredging station #2 with the egg, and finally in dredging station #3 with quinoa flour, gently shaking off the excess flour and egg after each dredge. Place the breaded mini-fillets on the parchment paper as close to the center as possible, leaving some extra space on the sides of the fish. If you have any leftover quinoa flour mixture from dredging station #3, sprinkle it on top of the breaded fillets to cover up any breading holes your fingers may have created while dredging.

Add Fish to Air Fryer

Follow these instructions very carefully: Spray air fryer basket again with avocado oil cooking spray. Right before you add them to the air fryer, spray the top side of the fillets with cooking spray while they’re still on the parchment paper (this can get messy but is necessary). Add the fish to the air fryer basket, sprayed side down, alternating the wide end up so that they all fit in the air fryer basket with some room in between. After they’re all in the basket, spray the tops (the unsprayed side) with more cooking spray. Cook for 6 minutes at 400°F, flipping them with a large spatula halfway through.

Remove Fish from Air Fryer

Using a large spatula (not tongs as the fillets might fall apart), remove cooked fish from air fryer to a serving platter. Using an instant read thermometer, check the temperature of the thickest mini-fillet. Fish must reach an internal temperature of 145°F to be safely consumed. Using oven mitts, retrieve the chips from the oven and add to the serving platter. Serve with low FODMAP Homemade Tartar Sauce and low FODMAP Homemade Ketchup.

Preheat air fryer to 400F / 200C.

Mix the first 5 ingredients together and then add to a Ziploc bag.

Rinse the catfish, pat dry and add fillets to the Ziploc bag.

Seal the bag and then shake until the fillets are fully coated.

Place in the air fryer basket. (if you have a small fryer you will need to cook them one at a time). Spray the fillets with low calorie spray, close the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes.

Turn and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until done.

Fish- start with fully thawed fish, and pat dry with a paper towel to remove moisture from the surface of the fish.

Prepare

Prepare breading- In three shallow bowls, add: (1) all purpose flour, (2) beaten eggs, (3) Panko, parmesan, lemon zest, salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir the Panko mixture until completely combined.

Breading

Bread the fish- Make sure your fish is fully thawed, and pat each fillet dry using paper towels. Use tongs or your fingers to dredge the fish in the flour, shaking off excess, then dipping into the beaten eggs. Allow any excess egg to run off before placing the fish in the Panko mixture. Press gently so it sticks, then flip and allow the entire fillet to be coated. Transfer to a clean plate or cutting board and repeat with remaining fillets.

Cook

Cook- Heat your air fryer to 400°F and allow to preheat for 5 minutes. Add the fish to the basket or tray (*note 5) of your air fryer, ensuring the fillets do not overlap. Cook until the fish reaches 145°F in the thickest portion; 6-8 minutes.

Serve

Enjoy- Serve with tartar sauce and lemon wedges, sprinkle with parsley if desired.

Pat the fish dry and cut into sticks about 1 inch by 2 inches wide (how you are able to cut it will depend a little on what kind of fish you by and how thick and wide it is).
