Crispy Air Fried Tofu

16-oz block extra-firm tofu (453 g)

Tbsp soy sauce (30 mL)

Press: Press tofu for at least 15 minutes, using either a or by setting a heavy pan on top of it, letting the moisture drain. When finished, cut tofu into bite-sized blocks and transfer to a bowl.

Flavor: Combine all remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Drizzle over tofu and toss to coat. Let tofu marinate for an additional 15 minutes.

AirFry: Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 C). Add tofu blocks to your air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally to promote even cooking.

How to Make Crispy Air Fryer Tofu

In a medium size bowl place the pressed and cubed tofu. Add in liquid aminos and toss to coat. Add in all of the other seasoning ingredients and toss to thoroughly combine.

Place in your air fryer in a single row, so that all the tofu has a little bit of space around each piece. Set your air fryer to 400 degrees F. Cook for 10 minutes, shaking the basket after 5 minutes, then continuing to cook. 

Remove after tofu is cooked. Allow to cool for a few minutes then serve. Enjoy!

Remove the tofu from the package and drain off the excess water. Wrap in a towel to remove the liquid. If you want ultra crispy tofu, press it for about 20 minutes with a heavy object. I skip this step most of the time with no issues :)

Cut into 1 inch cubes and toss with the soy sauce. In a small dish, whisk together the corn starch, paprika and garlic powder. Add to the tofu and toss to combine.

Toss in the breadcrumbs until well coated.

Spray your air fryer basket (OR use a parchment liner to make clean up easy! these have holes in them to keep the cooking process the same) and add in the tofu in a single layer. Set the air fryer to 375 Fahrenheit and set the timer for 15 minutes. Remove the basket and shake every 5 minutes to ensure nothing sticks and everything cooks evenly. At the 15 minute mark, check the tofu. It will be quite crispy at this point, so stop it now if it is done enough for you, but I sometimes give it a few extra minutes if I want it ultra crispy.

While the tofu is cooking, add the minced garlic and sesame oil to a small pot. Saute until lightly golden brown.

Add in all remaining sauce ingredients and whisk really well. let simmer over low heat until thick. If after 5 or so minutes it isn&#039;t thickening, whisk in an extra tablespoon of cornstarch.

When both the tofu and sauce are done, let cool for about 5 minutes, then transfer the tofu to a large bowl and toss with the sauce. Serve immediately and enjoy with rice &amp; veggies or just as is.

Air Fryer Tofu

Crispy on the outside, chewy and soft inside, this air fryer tofu is a delicious snack, but it also makes a great addition to salads, stews, wraps and curries.

Cut the tofu lengthwise into four slabs, then cut each slab into 12 cubes.

Place the tofu and all marinade ingredients in a bowl, toss to mix. You can air-fry the tofu rightaway or, if you have the time, let it stand for 30 minutes.

Place the tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket, with a bit of space between each cube, and insert it in the air fryer. You might need to do this in two batches..

Air-fry the tofu for 12 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Halfway through air frying remove the basket and toss the tofu cubes around. This is not absolutely necessary but it helps ensure the tofu cooks evenly.

Serve the air-fried tofu as a snack with a creamy mayo or other dipping sauce, or toss it into stews, curries, wraps, salads and more.

Quick press the tofu: Cut the tofu into cubes. Place them evenly on a flat surface such as a cutting board lined with paper towels or a clean towel. Cover with a layer of paper towels, set a baking sheet on top and then something heavy, like a large book or cast iron skillet. Press like this for 15 minutes. Or use a tofu press.

In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil.

Add the pressed tofu cubes to a bowl and drizzle the marinade over them. Toss gently to coat the pieces. Let the tofu marinate for about 15 minutes, longer if desired (up to 8 hours in the refrigerator.)

Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer, in a single layer, so the pieces don&#x27;t touch. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook half the tofu at a time. Cook at 400 degrees F for 10-15 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally after 10 minutes. Cook until the tofu is golden and crispy, but not burned.

Put into Air Fryer basket.

Set temperature for 370 Degrees F. Turn on the Air Fryer for 12 minutes. (You may need to add a few minutes if you like crisper tofu) Your air fryer tofu is almost ready!

Every 4 minutes remove the air fryer basket and &quot;shake&quot; to stir up the tofu. Every air fryer is different, be sure to monitor how it is cooking.

Remove the tofu from the package and drain. With your hands, gently squeeze out as much water as you can without breaking or crushing the block. Lay the tofu flat on a cutting board so the longer edge is towards you, then cut it into four strips. Rotate the strips so that the wider (cut sides) are flat against the cutting board and cut them in half again those you have 8 strips total. Cut the strips crosswise into cubes that are about 1 inch in size (I end up with 5 cubes per strip).

Press

Line a cutting board or large plate with a clean tea towel (or similar lint-free kitchen towel) or paper towels. Spread the tofu cubes onto it in one layer and lay a second towel on top. Press gently but firmly and change out the towel as needed. The idea is to remove as much water from the tofu as possible.

Stir

In a small bowl or large liquid measuring cup, stir together the soy sauce, vinegar, syrup, oil, garlic powder, ginger, and hot sauce.

Toss

Place the tofu in a shallow baking dish or medium mixing bowl. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the tofu, then with your hand, toss gently to combine. Let the tofu sit for 15 minutes, tossing it again halfway through. Don’t worry if a few bits crumble. Those will turn deliciously crispy.

Preheat

If you’d like to keep the tofu warm between batches, preheat your oven to 250 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F according to the manufacturer’s instructions (for my air fryer, that is 3 minutes of preheat time).

Just before cooking, sprinkle the corn starch evenly over the top of the tofu and toss to coat.

Coat

Coat the basket of the air fryer with nonstick spray. Add the tofu in one layer, leaving a little space around the cubes so that they do not touch and the air can circulate (depending upon the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook it in two or three batches).

Cook

Cook the tofu for 9 minutes, slide the basket out and shake it gently to toss the tofu, then continue cook for 2 to 4 additional minutes, tossing and checking it each minute, until the tofu is crisp and dark golden (the time will vary based on your air fryer; keep a close eye on it towards the end to make sure it doesn’t burn). If desired, transfer the tofu to the baking sheet and keep warm in the oven while you finish the rest.

Repeat with remaining tofu, discarding any excess marinade (if you have some crumbled bits of tofu in the bottom of the bowl, you can air fry those too). Enjoy!

Easy to make recipe and outstanding sauce. My only suggestion is air frying the tofu for 10-12 minutes. At 15, mine was overdone.

This air fryer tofu is crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle, and packed with delicious savory flavor. The recipe is simple and foolproof - my favorite way to cook tofu at home!

Prepare your tofu by pressing it (full instructions HERE) and cutting it into cubes or any shape you&#8217;d like. For maximum crispiness, I like to cut it into smaller cubes.

Prepare the marinade in a resealable container (big enough for the tofu to fit in) by whisking together the soy sauce, oil, garlic, and vinegar. Add in the tofu cubes being careful not to stack them if you can avoid it. Put the top on and let sit for 30 minutes (or even overnight). I recommend flipping the tofu at some point so that it&#8217;s evenly marinated. OPTIONAL STEP: remove the tofu from the marinade and toss it in 1/4 cup of cornstarch, tapping off any excess cornstarch, for maximum crispiness.

When ready to cook, pre-heat your air fryer to 370 degrees F and lightly spray the inside with cooking spray.

Once heated, add the tofu in in a single layer and cook for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. You can always cook it a few minutes longer as desired to get it crispier. Serve and ENJOY!

Crispy golden cubes of tofu are coated in a sesame soy glaze. This is an easy and flavorful recipe and the tofu can be cooked in the air fryer or oven.

Crispy Sesame Tofu

(14 oz) block extra firm tofu

tsp white sesame seeds

scallion (thinly sliced)

tsp sesame oil

1/16 tsp ground ginger

Slice tofu into ¾ inch cubes. Place tofu cubes in a single layer in air fryer basket, making sure none of the cubes touch. Cook at 375°F for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Air Fried

Loosely wrap the block of tofu with a few paper towels or a tea towel. Place a cutting board over tofu and place something heavy on top of the cutting board to press on the tofu to release water. I used a large 28 oz can of tomatoes. Whatever you use, you want it to apply pressure evenly across the surface of the tofu. The heavy object should apply enough pressure to squeeze out some of the water but not so heavy that it will crack and break your tofu.

Let the tofu be pressed for about 30 minutes. When it is almost ready, preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

After 30 minutes, pat your tofu dry and slice into approximately ¾ inch cubes. Place tofu pieces onto baking sheet in a single layer, not touching. Bake tofu for about 30-35 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Baked

While tofu is cooking, make the sauce. In a medium bowl, add all sauce ingredients. Whisk to evenly mix, making sure to completely dissolve the cornstarch.

Add sauce to a small saucepan and bring to low-medium heat. As the mixture heats up, stir continuously to prevent the cornstarch from cooking and clumping up. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook until it thickens (this should take less than 1 minute). Taste and adjust ingredients as needed.

Add cooked tofu to sauce. Toss tofu until evenly coated. Plate tofu and garnish with sesame seeds and scallions. Serve with rice or rice alternative.
