Homemade Bloody Mary Cocktails

tomato juice

(1 cup) vodka

cucumber,

distilled vinegar

celery seed (not celery salt!)

Worcestershire sauce*

hot sauce (I used Tapatío), more to taste

(about 50 twists) black pepper

garlic, pressed

salt, optional

Lemon or lime wedges

Kosher salt, chili

ice,

Garnishes (choose any): Celery stalks, skinny carrots olives

In a blender, combine the tomato juice, vodka, cucumber, vinegar, celery seed, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Securely fasten the lid and blend on high speed until completely smooth.

Taste, and add more hot sauce for more heat (it&#8217;s going to taste quite intense now, since the mix hasn&#8217;t cooled over ice yet). Add the black pepper and garlic. Securely fasten the lid and blend for just a few seconds (or longer, for a completely smooth texture). Taste, and stir in 1/4 teaspoon salt for more overall flavor if you&#8217;d like (tomato juice brands vary by salt content, so this is really up to you). Set aside.

If you&#8217;d like to rim your glasses with salt, run a lemon or lime wedge around the outside rim. Pour kosher salt onto a small plate (mix in chili powder if you&#8217;d like), and roll the wet edge of the glass across the salt at a 45-degree angle. Repeat with the remaining glasses.

Fill the glasses with ice, and pour the Bloody Mary mix on top. Stir with a spoon, and garnish with a lemon or lime wedge and garnishes of your choice. Serve immediately.

Translated, this is Tarzan’s victory yell when he finished doing a number on a 15-foot crocodile...while trashing around underwater for approximately 15 minutes without coming up for air! This would be better just stirred as it turned a weird colour (pale pink) and was waaayyyy too frothy. Waste of good vodka 

I was turned on to Tito's Vodka about 4 years ago.  I agree about it's quality.  I used to drink Belvedere or Grey Goose with my Bloody Marys and Martinis.  I am definitely going to try your B.M.recipe before New Year's eve.  Can't wait! 

I think V8 juice is good for ANY tomato juice recipe.

Loved this recipe. The cucumber gave it a fresh taste which I liked but the cucumbers were also a tad bitter. I will probably use less cucumber next time and more hot sauce but they were still amazing!

The 1st night I made this I want to sure about it. But after it sits for a night, wow! I am on day 3 of the batch n it just keeps developing more n more flavor! I did add pepperchinis (sorry about the misspelling) and cocktail onions. I will be making this again and again!!

I used a quarter cup of vinegar. A half cup would have been too much. I also waay upped the spice level. But we like spice send I was working on homemade tomato juice with no spices. I also added dill seeds and fresh dill which was another fresh pop. Good stuff! Just read about the horseradish. That would be a good addition too!

Where can i buy the arrow garnish sticks? Those are really neat.

I am a reasonably young 72.  Best Bloody Mary ever.  Used a bit of good quality blue cheese as a garnish.

We were looking for a unique recipe. While this is a unique spin on the flavor of a tradition Bloody Mary, it was not great for us. Leaving the cucumber out makes it much closer to what we enjoy. It's spicy with a light citrusy vibe. If that's what you're looking for, this might be the one for you. With cucumber, we give it "1 star". Without we can go with "3 stars". Can't knock us for trying. - Thanks!

Great recipe! I left out the cucumbers as I didn’t have any and I also felt like they might make it watery. I also wonder how long it really stays good. It seems Iike it would be good for longer than a few days with the vodka, vinegar and lemon juice (that I add). At Day 4/5 it was still tasty. But I don’t want to get sick if you think it needs to be tossed sooner. What do you think?

Made this last night for friends, my bloodys are always a big hit, as I am from Northern WI so i always load up the skewers with appitizers. First time for me with the cucumber. And WOW, aaaamazing fresh taste it gave. Love love love. Cucumbers will be a forever ingredient now. Thank You !!!!

Loved this for the addition of the cucumber, was very refreshing on a Sunday morning. I did tweak it a bit with horseradish.  Was perfect with a plate of veggies, cheese, spiced hard cooked egg and a couple slices of pepper bacon.

Well I was not surprised :) bc it was the best blood mix ever! She added the vodka to each drink instead of blending it. I've now saved the recipe for when I need to make some! :P

Easy Bloody Mary Chili Recipe

beef

onion

bell pepper (we use half yellow and half green)

celery (more if you want some on the side)

garlic

tsp chili powder

tsp cumin

tsp basil

tsp steak seasoning

1.5 c bloody mary mix (or more depending on taste)

c pinto beans (canned)

kidney beans (canned)

c diced tomatoes (canned)

tobasco (to taste)

worcestershire Sauce (to taste, about 1 tbsp)

salt (to taste)

Dice all of your vegetables and drain your beans, rinse them too.

In a pot add some olive oil and your ground beef. Cook until about half way done.

Add in your diced onions, bell peppers, celery, and all spices. Stir, and allow to cook a bit more until ground beef is no longer pink and veggies have begun to soften.

Over medium heat add in your diced tomatoes, bloody mary mix, tobasco, and worcestershire sauce. Stir, allow to start to bubble. If you want more liquid add a bit more bloody mary mix to taste.

Lower heat to low and put a lid on your pot just slightly ajar.

Allow to simmer on low for about an hour. I stir about twice in this time.

Serve with side of cornbread, over baked potatoes, or rice with a bit of cheese if you want and/or green onions.

Worcestershire sauce

tsp salt

tsp black pepper

oz vodka (2 shots)

This Bloody Mary recipe makes a spicy, flavorful vodka cocktail. Add as many toppings as you&#x27;d like to get your drink just right!

The Best Bloody Mary Recipe

tomato juice (or about 6 cups)

horseradish

worcestershire sauce

celery salt

garlic salt

Tabasco sauce

black pepper

Pickle-infused vodka (or regular vodka if you prefer)

salt

Mix the tomato juice, horseradish, worcestershire sauce, celery salt, garlic salt and black pepper in a large pitcher. Season with 10-15 shakes of Tabasco sauce, or to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

To assemble drinks, mix the celery salt and kosher salt on a small plate. Dip the rim of your glass in a shallow amount of water, then dip into the salt mix and twist. Fill an 8-ounce glass to the top with ice. Add 2 ounces of pickle-infused vodka or regular vodka then top with bloody mary tomato mixture.

Garnish with limes, lemons, celery ribs, blue cheese stuffed olives, bacon strips, pepperocinis, cooked shrimp, hot sauce, pickles, pickled asparagus or green beans, pickled beets, chunks of cheese, and anything your heart desires.

Large Eggs

mayonnaise

tomato paste

pickle juice

hot sauce

Cut hard boiled eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolks.

Place all yolks in a small mixing bowl and smash with the back of a fork.

Add mayo, tomato paste, horseradish, pickle juice, hot sauce and Cajun seasoning and mix well.

Place a sandwich baggie inside a large drinking cup (or use a piping bag) and fill it with the egg mixture.

Snip off the corner of the bag and pipe filling into eggs.

Stick a celery slice and pickle slice in the filling to garnish.

How to Create a Bloody Mary Bar

Combine kosher salt and chopped celery in a small bowl. Place lemon juice in a separate bowl, then dip the tops of each glass into the lemon juice. Immediately dip each glass in the celery salt. Set aside.

Pour all bloody mary ingredients in a large pitcher, then stir to combine. Fill glasses with ice, then evenly distribute mix between glasses. Top with as many optional garnishes as desired. Enjoy!

Spicy, zesty tastes are a serious love of our friend Brad Prose from Chiles and Smoke after all, it's in the name. With this refreshing appetizer, he brings the flavors of classic BBQ and Bloody Marys together for a delicious platter that thinks the fun stuff is well off the beaten path. Contrasting sweet, hot shrimp with crispy-grilled bacon, simply garnish the dish with the fresh pops of cornichons, celery and blue cheese for a burst of flavorful fun that'll stun the group. Grab a small fork, get a drink, and relax!

Bloody Mary Shrimp Platter from Chiles and Smoke

pack bacon, thick-cut

BBQGuys x Spiceology Kansas City Rub

vegetable oil

Blue cheese crumbles

Tbsp unsalted butter (1 stick)

tomato puree

tsp prepared horseradish (or grated)

garlic cloves, grated

If you plan to use skewer the shrimp, and want to use wooden skewers, consider soaking them in water for 10–30 minutes before you begin. This will limit cooking your wood along with the shrimp.

Clean and prepare the shrimp. Place them in a bowl and set aside.

Prepare your charcoal grill for direct grilling. Start preheating to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Season the bacon strips generously with BBQGuys x Spiceology Kansas City Rub.

Time to bring back that bowl of shrimp. Add vegetable oil, toss on a few dashes of dry rub, then mix gently to coat the shrimp evenly.

Add all butter sauce ingredients to a small saucepan, heated on medium low. Melt these ingredients together and stir to incorporate. We’ll be basting the bacon and shrimp with this butter sauce.

By now, the charcoal grill should be all fired up to go. Grill the bacon first, and be mindful of flareups — depending on your intended doneness, this might be 5–7 minutes on either side. About 1 minute before the bacon is finished, lightly baste it with the butter sauce.

Get to grilling that shrimp! Depending on its size, grill for 2–4 minutes on either side. Baste with the butter sauce as you flip. You’re looking for an internal temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit; it’ll finish as it rests.

If you’re garnishing with celery, go ahead and slice the stalks into 4–5 inch strips.

Plate each dish with bacon, shrimp, sliced celery, and garnish with blue cheese and cornichons — which are undersized, tart pickles with a mildly sweet flavor. Dab on extra sauce as you see fit, then serve and enjoy!
