Fried Pickles

Vegetable oil (for frying)

all purpose flour (125 grams)

Salt

black pepper

paprika

cayenne pepper

garlic powder

buttermilk

dill

Tablespoons Ranch dressing

Tablespoon BBQ sauce

ketchup

mayonnaise

tabasco sauce

Fill a Dutch oven or large saucepan 2-3" deep with oil for frying. Fix a candy thermometer to the edge (make sure it is in the oil but not touching the bottom of the pan) and set your heat to medium. Oil will need to reach 375F (190C) before you can begin frying, but this will take 10 minutes or so.

Meanwhile, prepare your breading mixture by whisking together flour, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.

Once oil has reached 375F (190C), prepare pickles for frying in batches of 3-4 slices

Coat slices in flour mixture, gengly shake off excess, dredge in buttermilk/egg mixture, then coat with flour mixture again.

Transfer (carefully!) to oil and fry 3-4 pickle slices at a time for 90 seconds on each side or until golden brown.

Use a slotted spoon or strainer to remove from oil and transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Make sure oil returns to 375F (190C) before frying your next batch of pickles.

Fried pickles are best enjoyed warm. If desired, serve with dipping sauce, which can be made by stirring together dipping sauce ingredients until combined.

Working in batches, add dried pickles to the batter, gently toss to coat. Using a slotted spoon (or Chinese Spider), remove pickles from the batter and let excess drip off. Gently add pickles to the oil one at a time. Fry for about 1 1/2-2 minutes or until golden. Remove and let drain on paper towels. Monitor oil temperature as batches are frying to maintain consistent 375-degrees F.

Serve with Comeback Sauce and/or ketchup.

Crispy Deep Fried or Air Fried Pickles

dill pickle chips

plant-based milk (do NOT use coconut milk)

panko breadcrumbs

tbsp cumin

tsp smoked paprika

oregano

tsp black pepper

Place the pickles on a bed of paper towels and cover with a paper towel to absorb the excess liquid. Let sit for 10 minutes.

In a medium bowl, whisk the 2 cups flour, 1 tbsp cumin, 2 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp pepper, and salt to taste until well combined.

Pour the 1 cup milk in a bowl and put the 2 cups panko breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the prepared pickles on the paper before frying.

Dredge a pickle in the flour to coat, then dip in the milk, and dredge in the breadcrumbs to coat. Continue with the rest of the pickles.

Cover the bottom of a skillet with two inches of canola oil (see note) and heat on high heat until very hot. To test if it&#x27;s ready for frying, add a bit of the breadcrumbs to the oil. If it really sizzles, it&#x27;s ready.

Using tongs, carefully add the pickles to the oil (leave enough room between them so they can cook properly) and fry for approximately 3 minutes per side, or until they&#x27;re golden brown.

Place on a paper towel to absorb excess grease.

TO DEEP FRY

Preheat the air fryer to 400 F. (200 C).

Spray a light coating of oil on the tops of the pickles and air fry for 10 minutes.

Air Fryer Fried Pickles

Made these today but changed a bit to make gluten free recipe. Mixed GF Panko and cornmeal, about 1 to 1 ratio, and left out Parmesan. Add cornstarch to the egg mixture to make crumbs adhere better.

Went great with our burgers!

Used panko, but everything else according to the recipe. They were just eh. I’ll continue to try other recipes.

Tried them tonight. They were pretty good, especially since they were air fried. We will make them again.

The breading flavor is super plain. Needs more flavor. And you just need to do  400° for 8 minutes, flip halfway through if you want to crips both sides equally but it’s not necessary!

I usually do egg flour egg bread crum but this works well also

Air Fryer Fried Pickles are one of my favorites! This is a Texas Road House Copycat Fried Pickle recipe. To make it even better it is made right in the air fryer.

Mix together flour and spices.

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.

Coat sliced pickles with flour mixture.

This Air Fryer Fried Pickles Recipe is a healthier take on the deep fried crunchy snack. Fried Pickles Air Fryer style is a perfect quick appetizer.

Easy Air Fryer Fried Pickles

(320 grams) sliced pickles

(240 grams) buttermilk (mixed

(125 grams) breadcrumbs

(23 grams) grated parmesan

smoked paprika

Preheat the Air Fryer to 400F/200C.

Pat pickles dry.

Put seasoned buttermilk in a bowl.

Mix together breadcrumbs, cheese and seasonings in another bowl.

Working quickly dip pickles in buttermilk mix, shake to drip off excess buttermilk, dredge both sides of the pickle in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture and add to basket.

Keep working quickly to fill the basket, insert basket into the Air Fryer and fry for 8-10 mins.

About 3 mins before they’re done, lightly spray the pickles with spray oil so that the breadcrumbs can crisp up and become golden brown.

Repeat by breading the rest of the pickles and continuing to fry in batches until finished.

It's hard to believe these are baked, not fried. Want to make these gluten-free? Sub bread crumbs for very finely chopped almonds!

Really good pickles. Used seasoned crumbs, added garlic powder and cayenne, used dried dill. Very good. Would omit dill for future and there will be future. Also next time I would add a little water to the eggs and use plastic bag with flour to coat the pickles.

Oh my!! I just tried this recipe and I loved the taste. Watch the amount of salt though, I salted a little too much. I also made a few substitutes: I used kosher pickle sandwich slices (not pickle chips) and I used gluten free panko. The taste was still fantastic.

9.5/10 Would recommend, made twice- first time no cayenne so kid friendly, second recipe as is.  So tasty, .5 off because I think you can get away with 1 egg, I always run out of panko first and have lots of egg leftover and a bit of flour.

Pretty good recipe! I left out the dill and next time would cut back on the cayenne a little. I used kosher dill pickles.

Deep fried pickles are crunchy, flavorful, and SO tasty! These pickle slices are breaded and fried to perfection, making them a crowd-favorite party appetizer!

Vegetable Oil (or peanut oil)

Italian seasoning

oz dill pickle slices

Panko

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.

Drain and dry pickles and place on paper towels. Pat DRY with double layered paper towels.

While oil is heating whisk together flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper in shallow bowl. Add water and mix until smooth.

Add part of the dried pickles to the batter and toss to coat. Dip pickles in a pie pan filled with Panko.

Fry in the oil (until golden brown). Continue until all the pickles are fried and serve immediately with ranch.

Deep Fried Pickles Are Crunchy, Flavorful, And SO Tasty! These Pickle Slices Are Breaded And Fried To Perfection, Making Them A Crowd-Favorite Party Appetizer!

A tasty restaurant classic, Fried Pickles are a fun and easy appetizer that you can make at home. With only a few simple ingredients, these can be made pretty quickly!

peanut oil,

hamburger dill chip pickles, (drained)

yellow cornmeal

creole seasoning

pickle juice

ranch dressing, (for dipping)

Add oil to a deep fryer or a dutch oven with 3 inches of oil up the side of the pan. Heat the oil to 350°F.

Place paper towels on a sheet tray. Place the pickles on the paper towels, not touching. Take more paper towels or a clean kitchen towel and press out as much of the liquid from the pickles as you can. They need to be dry.

In a medium-sized bowl whisk together the flour, cornmeal, and creole seasoning.

Add the water and pickle juice, stir to combine until smooth.

Once the oil is up to temp, add handfuls of the dried pickles to the batter. Using a slotted spoon or your hands, separate the pickles making sure they are not sticking.

Carefully drop them into the hot oil one at a time. If using a deep fryer, I like to shake the basket around to make sure they don’t stick to the bottom.

Fry until crispy and lightly golden brown, about 4 minutes. Stir around every so often to make sure they are browning evenly.

Take the fried pickles out of oil and place them on a paper-towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.

Immediately place the pickles onto a wire rack over a sheet tray to catch any drips.

Repeat with the remaining pickles. Serve with ranch dressing.

Combine flour, cajun seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Cover the pickles completely with the flour mixture, pressing them as much as possible.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (180ºC). Fry the pickles until golden brown on the bottom, and then flip (or use a grid to submerge). 

Make the sauce by mixing all the ingredients together in a bowl.

Serve the fried pickles hot with the dipping sauce.

Fried Tempura Pickles Recipe

Easy Tempura Batter, prepared according to directions

Prep. Prepare the Sriracha ranch dipping sauce by combining the Sriracha and the ranch dressing in a small bowl. Blend well then refrigerate the sauce until ready to serve.

Drain the pickle slices, reserving the liquid for future uses (for example, pickle juice is an easy and flavorful brine. It has been suggested that this is the secret to Chick-fil-A’s delicious fried chicken).

Fire up. Add 1 inch (25.4 mm) of oil to a heavy pot or cast-iron Dutch oven, place it on the grill, and preheat the oil to 375°F (190.6°C). This technique is referred to as grill frying and is a great way to avoid the smells and mess associated with deep-frying indoors.

Prep again. Once the oil is ready, drop the pickle slices in the easy tempura batter and stir until each pickle slice is fully coated.

 Cook. With tongs, pull the pickle slices out of the batter, allowing some of the excess batter drip off before gently slipping them into the oil. Try to cook pieces of similar thickness together so they are done at the same time. Do not crowd the pot or the oil temperature will drop too low and the pickles might stick together. Try to keep the oil temp between 325°F (162.8°C) and 350°F (176.7°C). Flip the battered pickle slices often and fry until the batter is golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per batch. When they are done, lift the pickle slices out of the oil with tongs or a spider strainer. Spread the deep fried pickle slices on paper towels to drain.

Serve. Plate the tempura battered pickles and serve immediately with the Sriracha ranch dipping sauce.
