Once beans have finished cooking, stir in salt and vinegar if using. Store cooked beans in a bit of the cooking liquid to keep them moist and tender while they sit in fridge, this is not necessary, but suggested.

How to Make Dried Beans in the Instant Pot: NO SOAKING REQUIRED!!! This is the EASIEST Recipe!

Instant Pot Chickpeas

(225 grams) dried chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

whole head (40 grams) garlic (, crushed)

bay leaves

(212 grams) onion (, halved)

(1L) water stock

Optional Step - Soak Chickpeas Overnight: Place 1 cup (225g) dried chickpeas and 1 tbsp (17g) fine table salt in a large container. Pour 4 cups (1L) cold water in the large container, then give it a few stirs. Allow chickpeas to soak overnight for at least 8 - 16 hours. *Pro Tip: If your house is very warm, place the large container in the fridge to avoid fermentation.

Rinse Chickpeas: Rinse chickpeas under cold water, then pick out any stones or debris. Drain chickpeas well.

Pressure Cook Chickpeas: Add 1 cup (225g) unsoaked chickpeas or all of the soaked chickpeas, 2 bay leaves, 1 whole head (40g) garlic, and 1 halved (212g) onion to the Instant Pot. Adding Salt:-For Unsoaked Chickpeas - add in 1 ½ tsp (9g) fine salt.-For Soaked Chickpeas - add in 1 tsp (6g) fine salt.Pour in 4 cups (1L) cold water or unsalted chicken stock, then give it a quick mix. With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position.Pressure Cooking Method:-For Unsoaked Chickpeas - High Pressure 42 minutes (tender with a bit of chew) or 60 minutes (tender soft) + Natural Release 20 minutes-For Soaked Chickpeas - High Pressure 5 minutes (tender &amp; creamy) + Natural Release 20 minutesAfter 20 minutes, release remaining pressure, then open the lid.

Serve Instant Pot Chickpeas: Remove &amp; discard onions and bay leaves. Taste the chickpeas to ensure they are fully cooked. Add more seasoning if necessary. Drain the chickpeas. Then, serve the chickpeas as a tasty side dish. Enjoy!~ :)

Mexican Black Beans in Instant Pot

Onions (diced)

tbsp Garlic (minced)

Bay leaf ((optional))

Red bell pepper (diced)

Dry black beans (7 ounces. rinsed)

Water

tbsp Ground Cumin (Jeera powder)

tbsp Oregano

Paprika

Salt

Lime juice

Cilantro (chopped)

Set your pressure cooker to saute mode, and add oil to the inner pot.

Add the onions, bell pepper, and garlic to the pot, and saute for about 3 minutes.

Add the bay leaf and spices.

Add the black beans and water, stirring to deglaze and incorporate the flavorful veggie bits from the bottom of the pot into the beans.

Cancel saute mode, then close the lid, making sure the vent is set to sealing.

Set the pot to manual or pressure cook mode on high pressure and increase the cook time to 35 minutes.

When the cook time is finished, let the pressure release naturally.

When the pressure has fully released, remove the lid of the pressure cooker, then gently stir the beans.

Add lime juice and garnish with cilantro. Enjoy!

Wash the Pinto Beans and set it aside.

SAUTE - Press sauté button on Instant Pot. Add Oil followed by onion, garlic and jalapenos . Saute for 2 minutes.

ADD STOCK - Add a splash of stock to deglaze. Turn off the Sauté Mode. Add the remaining stock.

ADD THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS - Add Beans, spice powders and bay leaf.

PRESSURE COOK - Secure the lid. Turn the valve to sealing position. Select PRESSURE COOK HIGH for 35 minutes. Allow natural pressure release for 20 minutes and then carefully turn the valve to vent.  Open the lid and drain the beans into a colander to collect the liquid. { This is optional } Transfer the beans back to the Instant Pot insert.

MASH OR BLEND - Blend the cooked beans to a smooth creamy puree or to a desired consistency. Add a splash of cooking liquid to adjust the consistency, if needed.

ADJUST SEASONING - Taste and add more seasoning if needed. Squeeze some lime juice.

SERVE - Serve warm with a garnish of coriander leaves, red onion and tomatoes.

How to make Mexican refried beans in Instant Pot?

Make Creamy Mexican&nbsp;Instant Pot Refried Beans Recipe (Pressure Cooker Refried Beans) with this Easy No-Soak, No Canned Beans Method! Deliciously satisfying mashed beans side dish, topping, filling, or dip. Made with simple, whole ingredients.

Instant Pot Refried Beans

(454 grams) pinto beans (, rinsed and drained)

(323 grams) large onion (, roughly diced)

(13.7 grams) garlic (, minced)

stock

(30 milliliters) olive oil, lard or bacon fat

(2.7 grams) ground cumin

(1.1 grams) dried oregano

Cilantro

Jalapeno ((optional))

Saute Onion, Spices, and Garlic: Heat up Instant Pot using Sauté More function. Wait until it says HOT. Add in 2 tbsp olive oil, bacon fat, or lard. Add roughly diced onion and cook until softened. Then add ½ - 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp dried oregano, and minced garlic to Instant Pot. Cook for another minute until fragrant.

Deglaze: Pour roughly ½ cup unsalted chicken stock in Instant Pot and deglaze by scrubbing all the brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon. Give it a quick mix.

Pressure Cook Beans: Add well-drained pinto beans in Instant Pot and pour in remaining 3 ½ cups unsalted chicken stock. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 40 mins (tender with a bite) or 50 mins (silky smooth &amp; tender), then 25 mins Natural Release.

Drain Beans Liquid: Strain the beans liquid with a strainer. Place beans back in Instant Pot. Keep the beans liquid in a mixing bowl.

Mash Beans: Create Instant Pot Refried Beans by mashing the beans with a potato masher or immersion blender until desired consistency. Taste and season with salt (FYI: we used 4 pinches of salt). Add drained beans liquid back to the mashed beans until desired consistency.

Garnish Refried Beans: Give it a final taste and garnish. You can spice it up with some jalapeno. Serve &amp; enjoy~ :)

The BEST Instant Pot Refried Beans

Set Instant Pot to SAUTE. Add oil. Once hot, add onion. Sauté for 2 minutes, then add garlic and let cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.&nbsp;

Add a splash of broth and scrape to remove any browned bits from the bottom of the pot. Add remaining broth, water, cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, pepper, cayenne and beans. Stir to combine. Hit CANCEL.

Make sure your sealing ring is in place on the lid. Lock the lid onto Instant Pot and set the steam release knob to the "sealing" position.

Press the MANUAL button and set Instant Pot for high pressure for 40 minutes. It will take about 15 minutes for Instant Pot to come to full pressure, then the display will show a countdown timer.

Once the 40 minutes are up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes, then release any remaining pressure.

Remove the lid and drain the beans, reserving the liquid.

Return the cooked beans to the pot, and stir in ½ cup of the reserved cooking liquid. Season with salt, to taste. Use a potato masher to mash the cooked beans until smooth, leaving some texture if you like. Or, you can use an immersion blender for pureed beans.

Dice onions, celery, carrots, and ham. Peel garlic and set it all aside.&nbsp;Rinse the beans to get rid of any debris that might be in the bag and set aside to let it strain.&nbsp;

Set Instant Pot to SAUTE and let it heat up. Add oil, onions, celery, and carrots and saute until veggies soften and start to golden. (If using ham bone, add ham bone to the pot.)

Press garlic and add it to the pot. Saute until fragrant.

Add diced ham, stir, and saute for a few minutes. Pour in beans, chicken broth, thyme, bay leaf, crushed red peppers, and salt. Don’t forget to taste to make sure you have enough salt.&nbsp;

Stir, close the lid and make sure it’s latched. Turn the valve to “SEAL” and set the Instant Pot to pressure cook on high pressure cook mode for 30 minutes.

Let it do a natural release for about 10 minutes and then do a quick release. Be careful opening the lid.

Instant Pot Black Beans

(240 grams) onion (, chopped)

Saute Onion in Instant Pot: Heat up Instant Pot using &quot;Sauté More&quot; function. Wait until it says &quot;HOT&quot; (~8 mins). Add 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil in Instant Pot. Add in chopped onions, then saute for 3 minutes.

Add Spice &amp; Garlic: Add in 1 tsp (2.7g) ground cumin, 1 tsp (0.6g) oregano, and 3 bay leaves. Saute for another minute. Add in minced garlic, then saute for 30 seconds.

Deglaze Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup (250ml) unsalted stock in Instant Pot, then deglaze by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon. Give it a quick mix.

Pressure Cook Black Beans: Add in 1 lb (454g) black beans and ½ tsp coarse kosher salt. Pour in 5 cups (1.25L) unsalted chicken stock, then give it a quick mix. With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure 50 minutes + Natural Release 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, release the remaining pressure by turning Venting Knob to Venting Position. When Floating Valve drops, open the lid carefully.*Pro Tip: Adding salt to the black beans will not make it tough.

Season Black Beans: Taste and season black beans with more salt (for reference, 3 - 4 large pinches of salt worked best based on our testings).

Serve Instant Pot Black Beans: You can serve the black beans as a yummy side dish, topping, filling, or a simple Black Beans Soup. *Pro Tip: If serving as a Black Beans Soup, boil the black beans in Instant Pot (use &quot;Saute High&quot; function for another 4 - 5 minutes. Put beans in the pressure cooker or Instant Pot and cover them with water so there’s 2 inches over them (10 cups).

Soak overnight, but don’t drain.

Next day, cover and seal the pressure cooker (or Instant Pot) over medium heat, when the pot comes to pressure cook high pressure 20 minutes. Natural release.

While the pressure releases, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium-low heat and add garlic, tomato paste, cilantro, red onion, pepper, bouillon cube and saute about 10 minutes, stirring.

Open the pressure cooker when the steam releases, take 25% of the beans and liquid and transfer to the blender. Puree well then return to the pot.

Add adobo seasoning and salt (about 1 teaspoon), or to taste. 

Add the sauteed vegetables to the beans and bring to a boil over medium heat. (In the Instant Pot use the saute button.)

Boil uncovered over medium-low heat until the texture becomes creamy and the liquid reduces, about 30 minutes stirring often. 

Remove cilantro, pepper and onion and serve over rice. Makes 9 cups.
