Fried cabbage is one flavorful and keto friendly side dish that&#039;s filled with tender cabbage, crispy bacon and tons of seasonings.

Cook bacon

Heat a large pan on medium heat and add the sliced bacon. Cook until crispy, then removed to a paper towel lined plate.

Saute onion

Add the onion and saute for 2-3 minutes, or until it&#039;s translucent.

Add seasonings and cabbage

Add the garlic, mustard, smoked paprika, salt and pepper and give it a stir to combine. Then place the sliced cabbage on top and use a large spoon or tongs to stir and saute together for another 12-15 minutes.

When the cabbage is done it should be soft and starting to caramelize. Then toss the bacon back in together.

Sauteed Cabbage (Easy & Healthy)

green cabbage (thinly sliced)

ghee (or a blend of butter and olive oil)

Cut the cabbage in half, remove the core and chop into thin slices. Then chop the onions into slices.

Melt the ghee in a large skillet over medium high heat. Saute the onions for a minute or until just starting to soften. Then add in the minced garlic and stir again.

Add the cabbage and saute for about 12-15 minutes. During this time, stir the cabbage occasionally until the cabbage becomes soft and caramelized.

Before serving, season with salt and pepper and toss to combine.

Sautéed cabbage is an easy, DELICIOUS vegetable side that&#x27;s healthy and goes with so many dishes! Vinegar is the secret ingredient to making it taste great.

Sautéed Cabbage

green cabbage (about 2 1/2 pounds)

extra virgin olive oil

unsalted butter

salt

apple cider vinegar (plus additional to taste)

Cut the cabbage in half from its top down through its core. Place the cut-side down on your cutting board, then slice it as thinly as possible around the core so that you have fine ribbons. Discard the core.

Heat a large saute pan or similar heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and butter. Once the butter is melted, add the cabbage, salt, and pepper. Saute for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to brown. Don&#x27;t feel like you need to constantly stir it. Leaving cabbage undisturbed for a minute or two as you go is what will allow it to develop brown caramelized bits (aka FLAVOR).

Remove from the heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar. Taste and add a bit of additional salt and pepper if you like, or a splash more vinegar if you&#x27;d like to add more zippy and acidic flavors. Sprinkle with thyme. Serve warm.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter. Add the cabbage, garlic powder, kosher salt, and plenty of black pepper. Saute 8 to 10 minutes until wilted and tender.

When it’s done, squeeze in the juice from 2 lemon wedges. Taste and adjust flavors as necessary.

STEP BY STEP:
Remove any outer layers of the cabbage that seem tough or are not fresh, and discard them.
With a large chef's knife, slice off the root of the cabbage.
Cut the cabbage in half through the stem.
Cut the cabbage into quarters.
Remove the root of the cabbage by cutting it out diagonally.
Thinly slice the cabbage in the short direction, using a circular motion with the knife. (Since typically shredded cabbage for coleslaw doesn't need to be in long pieces, slicing it in the short direction makes it easier to eat!)

How to Cut Cabbage

Sautéed Cabbage is caramelized cabbage and onions that&#x27;s packed with flavor.  It&#x27;s an easy, healthy side dish that comes together in minutes!

Simple Sautéed Cabbage

coriander

green cabbage

dill

apple cider vinegar

Salt and pepper (to taste)

Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.  Add the onions and cook 3 minutes or until softened.  Add the garlic and coriander and sauté 30 seconds longer.

Add the cabbage along with salt and pepper to taste, and continue to cook for 3-5 minutes or until the cabbage is cooked to the desired doneness.

Remove from heat and stir in the dill and apple cider vinegar.  Stir well and adjust the seasoning as necessary.

Serve and enjoy!

The best recipe for sautéed cabbage with onions, caraway and soy curls. A healthy protein loaded recipe cooked with olive oil but can be easily made oil-free and whole foods plant based compliant. Naturally vegan, gluten free and insanely delicious.

Vegan Sautéed Cabbage and Onions

green cabbage (shredded)

soy curls

Soak the soy curls in hot water for 10 minutes. Drain an ring out any excess water.

Preheat a large skillet or wok over medium high flame and sautee the onion in a drizzle of olive oil or water until translucent. (Omit oil and use water or veggie stock for WFPB + Plantricious compliance).

Add the caraway seeds and chili pepper and continue cooking until the onion begins to caramelize. (Add a little splash of water if needed to create some steam and scrape up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan).

Stir in the cabbage with a pinch of sea salt and continue cooking until the cabbage has wilted.

Sprinkle the paprika, onion powder and nutritional yeast over the top and toss to coat.

Add the rehydrated soy curls to the pan and toss to coat with the cabbage and onions in all the spices. Continue cooking until both the cabbage and the soy curls start to get some color and caramelize. You can add more oil or water if needed again to loosen up the brown bits from the bottom.

Taste and season with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Serve with the fresh dill on top with your choice of noodles, or potatoes.

To make the recipe compliant you must sautee in a splash of water or veggie stock and completely  on it the olive oil from the recipe.

Vegan Cabbage and Onions

Halibut is a meaty yet light fish, and the brightness of the tomatoes pairs beautifully with fresh thyme.

Oven-Roasted Halibut, Cherry Tomatoes, and Thyme

(3 oz) butter

thyme (plus 1 tablespoon chopped)

savoy cabbage ((about 2 pounds), finely shredded)

scallions (thinly sliced)

Six (5-ounce) halibut* fillets

Salt and pepper

lemons ((1/4 cup))

Sauvignon Blanc (or other dry white wine)

cherry tomatoes (sliced in half)

Chill

In a small bowl, combine the butter and the chopped thyme, mixing to incorporate the herbs. If you like, spoon the herb butter into the center of a piece of parchment or wax paper and roll it into a log shape. Chill the butter for at least an hour for easy slicing. If you don't want to make the butter log, just chill the butter in a bowl covered with plastic (it won't look as good, but the butter is going to melt in the oven anyway).

Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large pan, and saute the cabbage and scallions over medium heat until tender, about 6 minutes. Portion the cooked cabbage into 6 equal piles in a casserole dish.

Bake

Place a halibut fillet on each pile of cabbage, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with lemon juice and white wine. Cut the prepared herb butter into 6 equal-sized pats, and place one on top of each fillet. Scatter halved tomatoes evenly around the fillets. Top each piece of halibut with 2 sprigs of thyme. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

This is one of my favorite savoy cabbage recipes! A simple way of sauteing cabbage with bacon, this will make a perfect side dish or uncomplicated cabbage main dish.

Sauteed Savoy Cabbage with Bacon

onion (about 100 g/ 3.5 oz)

100 g/ 3.5 oz streaky bacon

ml/ 4.2 fl.oz/ ½ cup vegetable stock (from ½ a cube is fine)

crème fraiche

fine sea salt and pepper

nutmeg

Chop the onion finely. Set aside.

Cube the bacon, if not already cubed.

Quarter the cabbage, remove the core, place a quarter on its flat side and shred the savoy cabbage into ribbons.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven on medium heat. Saute the onion until translucent, add the bacon and fry for a couple of minutes.

In the meantime, finely chop the garlic. Add it to the skillet. Saute for about 5 minutes, stirring often.

Pour the vegetable stock into the pot. Stir again, cover, and cook on low heat for about 20 minutes until the liquid has evaporated and the savoy cabbage is cooked, but not mushy.

Remove from the heat and stir in the crème fraiche.

Adjust the taste with salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg.

Easy Caramelized Cabbage and Onions Recipe

yellow onion (sliced, room temperature)

garlic (chopped, about 1 tablespoon)

cabbage (room temperature, small to medium, cored and sliced in thin strips)

olive oil (extra virgin)

salt (or

chili flakes (optional)

black pepper (freshly ground, to taste)

lemon juice (freshly squeezed, optional)

Italian parsley (to garnish, optional)

Thinly slice the onion and cabbage. Chop the garlic.

Heat a 10-12 inch iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the olive oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add the sliced onions and toss until properly coated. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, frequently stirring until beginning to wilt.

Add the chopped garlic. Saute for an additional minute while stirring. Season with salt and chili flakes (optional).

Add the cabbage and stir together with the onions and garlic. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, occasionally stirring until the cabbage is tender, lightly browned, and caramelized. Adjust the level of heat if necessary.

Taste and, if necessary, adjust seasonings.

 Drizzle with freshly squeezed lemon juice before serving.

In a stock pot or dutch oven, cook the bacon and onion over medium heat until the bacon is cooked through and the onions are tender.

Add the chicken broth, scraping the bottom to release any stuck on bits.

Place the chopped cabbage into the pot and season with salt and black pepper as desired. (Optional: If you like vinegar in your cabbage, this is where you could add it in.)

Cover the pot and continue cooking over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and the broth has been absorbed, stirring as needed.

Caramelized Cabbage and Onions

green cabbage (halved, cored & thinly sliced)

kosher salt (to taste)

red pepper flakes (to taste)

nutmeg (to taste)

Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large nonstick or ceramic skillet or braiser pan with high sides. If you don’t have a skillet with high sides, use a large saucepan.

Add the sliced cabbage and onion. The skillet will be very full, but the cabbage will cook down quickly. Use tongs to toss with cabbage and onions with the olive oil.

Once the mound of cabbage cooks down a bit and becomes more manageable, use a wooden spoon or wooden spatula to stir the cabbage as it cooks, scraping any browned bits off the bottom of the pan.

After about 10 minutes, stir in the kosher salt and red pepper flakes.

Continue to cook, stirring very frequently and scraping browned bits off the bottom, until the vegetables are golden brown, about 20 minutes total.

Add the garlic and nutmeg. Cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the parsley. Serve.
