Garlic Sautéed Spinach

Heat

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and saute for 30 seconds. You don&#039;t want the garlic browning too much.

Add the baby spinach to the pan. It will be a big mound, and you can use your hands to pack it in. Use tongs or a spatula to carefully flip the spinach over, so that all of the pieces get covered in oil and garlic.

Cover

Cover the pan for a minute to let it steam, then stir again. Repeat this process until the spinach is wilted down, about 5 minutes later.

In a large pan, heat the olive oil over a medium heat.

Once the oil is heated, add the cut onion, red pepper, and tomato. Cook until the vegetables are cooked all the way through and are easily pierced with a fork.

Add the spinach. You may need to add it half at a time in order to have enough room. If this is the case, add 10 oz of spinach and wait for it to wilt. Then add the rest.

Cook until the spinach is wilted to your desired consistency. Then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste.

Transfer spinach to a separate plate. Top with small dollops of butter and allow the heat of the dish to melt it. Enjoy!

Naturally vegan, this Sauteed Spinach recipe is a simple Italian side dish that pairs well with any main. If you are looking for healthy sides, this vegetable is for you!

Sauteed Spinach Recipe

spinach (fresh, stems trimmed, washed and spun dry)

extra virgin olive oil

garlic (thinly sliced)

red chili flakes (optional)

Trim the tough ends of the spinach.

Wash properly and spin dry using a salad spinner.

Drizzle olive oil in a large skillet or cast iron pan.

Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using).

Turn on the heat to medium-high.

Once the garlic begins to turn a light golden brown, add the spinach.

Use tongs to turn it over to properly coat it with the garlic-infused oil.

Season with salt and pepper according to taste.

Cover the skillet and allow to cook for about 2 minutes.

Remove from heat and drain any excess liquid.

Catalan Style Greens

½ onion, thinly sliced (about 3/4 cup)

Heat oil in a heavy bottom big pot or dutch oven over medium high heat.

Add sliced onion and stir until tender, about 2-3 minutes. Turn heat to medium, add apple, saute 3-4 minutes, add garlic, saute a few more minutes, until fragrant.

Add raisins, hard cider and greens, turn heat to medium-low, cover and let cook 5 minutes.

Give a stir, and continue cooking until desired tenderness. Spinach will cook much faster than chard, kale or beet tops. One tender, season.

Sauteed Spinach Recipe (Turkish Style)

Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion until golden and translucent. This would take 5 to 10 minutes.

Add in the garlic and the tomato paste. Stir to combine and add the salt and pepper.

Add in the spinach and cook over medium heat until the spinach is cooked and wilted, about 10 minutes.

To make the yogurt sauce, mix the yogurt with the grated garlic, salt, pepper and dried mint.

Melt the butter in a small pan over medium heat. Once melted, add in the Aleppo pepper and give it a good stir. Add in the walnuts and cook for a minute or two.

Transfer the sauteed spinach to a serving plate. Top with the yogurt sauce and spiced butter.

Italian Sautéed Baby Spinach

garlic (*minced, about 2 tbsp)

oz baby spinach (*pre-washed)

Place a large frying pan over medium/low heat. Add oil, garlic and chili pepper flakes. Cook until garlic and chili flakes just start to become fragant and just begin to bubble.

Working in batches, add in 1/3 of spinach and sauté until just wilted. Continue with the process until all spinach has been added and cook just until last batch is wilted.

Sauteed Spinach (That Tastes Amazing)

spinach (about 1 1/4 pounds total with stems) or 10 ounces baby spinach leaves

If your spinach is in a bunch, chop off the stems and chop the leaves roughly.

Heat the olive oil over medium high heat in a large skillet. Add the whole garlic cloves for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned. Remove the lid. Stir and cook about 30 seconds more, until the spinach is fully wilted but still bright green. Stir in the kosher salt and fresh lemon juice, then remove from the heat.

Taste and add a few more pinches of salt to taste. (Spinach is very susceptible to salt, so use only small bits at a time! The flavor should pop but not be salty.) Immediately remove to a bowl; the spinach will brown if you leave it any longer in the pan. Serve warm.

In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, stirring and breaking up as you cook.

Remove the sausage from the skillet and cook the onions and carrots in the grease from the sausage until the onions are translucent and the carrots are soft. Stir in the pressed garlic.

Add the marinara sauce, broth, Italian sausage, and salt and stir to combine.&nbsp;

Stir in the tortellini and continue to cook over medium heat. Once the sauce starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low, place the lid on the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes remove the lid, turn the heat back to medium and stir in the spinach. Continue to cook for 3-5 more minutes until the spinach has wilted, the tortellini is soft and the sauce is thick.

Remove from heat and top with parmesan cheese. Serve hot. Enjoy!

I love greens. Kale, Swiss chard and spinach are my favorite. Love the simplicity of this dish, very similar to how I like it. Though I have never used vinegar in mine. I must try next time.

Frankly, I like all greens. We like to experiment and try out different flavor combinations. We like our kale and usually swiss chard is our special green we make during the holidays. We make it gratin style. We love sauteed kale with lots of spice. Hubby would love the touch of vinegar -- that's the way his mom made it.

I love that you add vinegar to this recipe! My fiance always makes the greens around here and is heavy handed on the vinegar. So I'm super used to it haha! I would love to try them with coconut oil too!
