Holiday Gelatin Salad

(.3 ounce) sugar-free lemon gelatin

(.3 ounce) sugar-free strawberry gelatin

(.3 ounce) sugar-free cherry gelatin

water

(20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple

(14 ounces) whole-berry cranberry sauce

orange,

whipped topping

sour cream

While this sounds delicious, it's the carb equivalent of half a meal for a diabetic. To make it lower carb, make your own cranberry sauce with Splenda,. Also check the labels on the fat free sour cream and whipped topping. Most fat free or reduced fat products add sugar when they reduce the fat. I hope this is helpful.

My family did not like the seeds - I guess from the whole cranberry sauce.  It would have been better with smooth cranberry sauce.

Delicious and unique jello recipe! I used the full sugar jello for Christmas and it was a big hit

I found this recipe last year right before thanksgiving.  It is a wonder yet easy alternative to cranberry sauce.  I made it last year for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner and EVERYONE loved it so much!  My daughter's preschool class is having a Thanksgiving Feast next week and everyone was asked to bring in a side dish.  This is the first thing that popped into mind.  I think all 4 year olds love jello so this should be a big hit!

My husband is a Type 1 diabetic, & there's no way I could serve him this dish with the regular canned cranberry sauce.  Way too much sugar in it.  I make my own cranberry sauce with Splenda or Stevia, so I substituted my homemade cranberry sauce for this jello salad, as other reviewers also did.  If you use the crushed pineapple in it's own juice, the sugar content combined with the homemade cranberry sauce, is fairly low & more suitable for a diabetic, IMO.  I also poured the mixture into a pretty glass bowl instead of using a mold.  A good recipe with the modification of homemade cranberry sauce with Splenda or Stevia instead of canned. Cool Whip makes a sugar free topping, but it is difficult to find in the grocery stores.  Also, wonder if I could use greek yogurt instead of sour cream? Unfortunately I  believe it is the canned cranberry sauce that raises the carb count in this.  I would not eat it either...too many carbs for my diabetes.  However, if I use my home cooked (with Splenda) cranberry sauce, this would be yum!!

I grew up on a recipe similar to this one.  Instead of the cranberry sauce my mother ground up  whole cranberries,  put in chopped  celery, walnuts and used mandarin oranges instead of an orange.

Love the combination of the three packages of jello.  Omitted the topping and it was still good.

Fabulous salad.  My mother has been making this for years!!

I use whole cranberries and oranges with sugar free orange and raspberry jellos, with chopped pecans.  My guys don't like celery so I drop that as well.  Add a little splenda to the Jello while it is still hot if the berries are really tart.  I top with a little fat free cool whip for the ones who  worry about the fat and not the calories.  I could eat this three times a day if it only lasted long enough.  5 stars.

I am  diabetic and this recipie is very good.  Most sugarless jello's are, frankly, not very flavorful but this gelatin salad is quite good. I will definately serve it to my family.

5stew357...Can you find sugar-free orange jello?  If not, I'd just do another box of strawberry or cherry.

Made this for Thanksgiving.  My son-in-law has requested it again for Christmas.  It was great.

Made it for a group of 23 & hardly anyone ate it, but I really liked it.  I thought it would be good for my diabetic son-in-law, but he said too high in carbs.  Don't know how to cut the recipe down.

I've made this for several family gatherings over the year and it is delicious and always a hit.  I've always served it without the cool whip/sour cream topping.
