Turnip - Fries are a healthier twist on a traditional french fry made with nutrient-rich, low-carb turnips and roasted in an air fryer or convection oven.

Air Fryer Turnip Fries

lbs turnips (peeled and sliced to 1/2 inch sticks)

cornstarch

olive oil

paprika

garlic powder

onion powder

tsp salt

tsp black pepper

smooth cottage cheese

salsa

tsp chipotle chilli powder

Preheat air-fryer or convection oven to 450F.

Peel and slice turnips to 1/2.  Add them to a large bowl and toss with 2 tbsp of cornstarch to lightly coat.

In a small bowl add 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper.  Mix to combine and pour over turnip sticks.  Mix well to evenly coat the turnips.

Place the turnip pieces in the air-fryer basket and then on top of the baking sheet or likewise in the oven.  Air-fry or bake for 20-25 minutes.  Turn halfway through and continue cooking until turnip fries are softened and crispy on the edges.  Remove from the air-fryer or oven.

While the turnip fries are cooking in a small bowl add 1/2 cup of smooth cottage cheese, 1/4 cup salsa, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/4 tsp chipotle chilli powder.  Mix well.  Serve as a dip for turnip fries.

Healthy Snacks: Pistachio Oat Bars

pistachios

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper. In a food processor with the S blade attached, process the pistachios, oats, and salt for about 30 seconds, until a meal starts to form. Drizzle in the maple syrup and olive oil while the motor is still running and the meal begins to come together into a crumbly, almost-wet dough.

Press the dough evenly into the pan and cover it with coconut flakes and remaining pistachios. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the coconut is nice and golden brown and the dough is cooked through. You want the squares to still be a little soft - don't overbake these.

Carefully lift the cooled dough out of the pan by holding two sides of the parchment paper. Cut it into squares. Drizzle a little maple syrup over the top for extra sweetness, if you like. Store the squares in a sealed container for up to a week.

Simple yet delicious breakfast to have on the go or as a healthy snack to curb any sweet cravings. Quick & easy to make or meal prep, perfect for those busy mornings and no cooking skills needed. Vegan option available.

Easy Overnight Oats - 4 Flavors

rolled old fashioned oats (43 grams) -

milk

non-fat greek yogurt

vanilla extract

apple

Cinnamon powder -

pecans

banana

tbsp cacao powder

butter

hazelnuts

berries

Coconut flakes -

Rice puffs - for the additional topping options

almonds

Combine base ingredients in a suitably sized glass or bowl.

Mix well, cover, and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 2 hours.

Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Making the oats

In a saucepan, dust apples with cinnamon powder, add 1 tablespoon water, mix then cook on medium heat until softened.

Top your overnight oats with warm apple cinnamon mixture and pecans.

Apple Cinnamon option:

Make the oats as above, but add 1/2 mashed banana and 1 tablespoon cacao powder to base ingredients. If you would like it a little sweeter, simply add some more sweetener.

To serve, top with other 1/2 banana, hazelnut butter and chopped hazelnuts.

Banana Nutella option:

These healthy bites are a great lunch box filler, as well as an easy way to get a couple of extra vege serves into your kids.

Zucchini, ham and corn bites recipe

140 g zucchini

corn

g ham

vegetable stock paste

g arrowroot flour

tsp bicarbonate of soda

g coconut flour

Packed with goodness from coconut oil and good quality eggs, and potassium, vitamins and minerals from the dates, these make a nice, healthy lunchbox treat for the kids.

These kid-friendly broc tots will please any kid that has a problem with green stuff on their plate. They're also the perfect finger-food for toddler-sized hands, and make a delicious snack for adults, too.


Broc tots recipe

(60 grams) panko breadcrumbs

(90 grams) shredded tasty cheddar

spring onions, finely chopped

Coles Australian Free Range Egg, lightly whisked

Get kids aged 3-6 involved in the kitchen by helping them make this moreish, healthy snack

Carrot hummus with pitta dippers

Grate the cooked carrot &ndash; don&rsquo;t worry if it turns to mush, this is what you want.

Tip the hummus into a bowl, add the carrot and mix well.

Add a squeeze of lemon juice, but mind you don&rsquo;t squirt it in your eyes.

Snip the coriander into little pieces using scissors and stir it into the hummus. Serve with the toasted pitta bread.

Air Fryer Green Bean Chips

lbs green beans,

canola oil

salt,

black pepper,

tsp amchur powder

tsp chili powder

In a large bowl, combine oil, salt, pepper, amchur, and chili powder.

Toss in green beans and coat evenly.

Preheat your air fryer to 270 degrees.

Place batches of green beans on your fryer basket and air fry for 10-15 minutes. Or until chips are mostly crisp. They will still have a tiny bit of softness to them that will be gone as they cool.

Cool without covering until completely crisp, approximately 3-4 hrs.

Serve or store in an airtight container.

A great way to use up any leftover quinoa, these crispy broccoli quinoa cakes make the perfect wholesome snacks, appetizers or a light lunch. Feel free to substitute broccoli with any grated vegetables you have on hand instead! 

Crispy Broccoli Quinoa Cakes

quinoa

broccoli

wholewheat bread crumbs

mozzarella cheese

tsp onion powder

garlic powder -

salt

tsp pepper

avocado

cilantro

tomato

juiced

Place all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth, pausing to scrap down the sides if necessary.

Season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside.

Make avocado dip

Grate broccoli using a box grater. Use the head only. Reserve the rest of it for other recipes such as stir-frys.

Add grated broccoli, quinoa, bread crumbs, cheese, eggs, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to a large mixing bowl. Mix until combined.

Take a large spoonful of mixture and form into a patty using your hands. Repeat until all mixture is used.

Heat up olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Cook quinoa cakes for 5-8 minutes each side or until golden brown. Remove from heat and keep warm while you cook the rest of the quinoa cakes.

Serve immediately with avocado dip. Enjoy!

Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas are a healthy, high fiber snack or salad topper! So quick and easy to make in the air fryer.

Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas

Drain chickpeas in a colander and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.

Let them dry completely.

Transfer the chickpeas to the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry 380F about 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes until crunchy on the inside, not moist and golden brown on the outside.

Transfer the chickpeas to a medium bowl while still hot, spritz all over with olive oil and immediately toss with the spices. Eat at room temperature as a snack or over your favorite salad.

50+ Easy &amp; Delicious Healthy Snacks: Pistachio Oat Energy Balls

Place the pistachios and oats in a food processor and process for about 30 seconds until chopped up and combined. 

Add the agave to the food processor and process again until the mixture balls up and comes together. 

Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides and process again for another 10 seconds. 

Use a cookie scooper to scoop put 10 &#8211; 12 balls onto a piece of parchment paper or plate. 

Use your hands to squeeze mounds and roll them into balls. 

You can sprinkle with additional flakey salt, if desired.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days and then store in the fridge for about 1 week.
