One Pot Sausage Peppers With Rice

small yellow onion

chopped bell pepper

sausage link ((I use smoked sausage))

garlic

tomato sauce

white rice

chicken broth

salt

pepper

One Pot Sausage Peppers with Rice

Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat and add the onions, peppers, and sausage. Saute for about 7 minutes or until the onions and sausage have slightly browned.&nbsp;

Add in the garlic and cook for another 2 minutes.&nbsp;

Add in the tomato sauce, chicken broth, rice, and seasonings. Bring to a full boil then reduce the heat to low.&nbsp;

Cover the pot and cook on low for 25 minutes. (I like to stir it half way through this to make sure it's not sticking to the pot.)

Make this Slow Cooker Italian Sausage and Peppers today and enjoy all the Italian flavors. It’s very filling, and you can have it on its own or as an easy add-on to zucchini pasta, regular pasta, cauliflower rice, regular rice, mashed cauliflower or potatoes and of course sandwiches.

Slow Cooker Italian Sausage and Peppers

red bell pepper

tomato sauce ((I prefer homemade tomato sauce

Over medium-high, heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add sausage links, and cook for about 2 minutes each side, just until they get brown (but the sausage will not be cooked though). Place them on a cutting board, slice them and place in the slow cooker.

Add onions and cook for about 2 minutes. Stir constantly. Then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Transfer onions and garlic to the slow cooker.

In the same skillet add mushroom (if necessary pour more olive oil in the skillet) and cook for 2 minutes or until they get a nice golden color. Transfer to the slow cooker.

Add bell pepper, tomato sauce, salt and black pepper to the slow cooker.

Cover and cook for 5 hours on low or 3 hours on high, or until sausages are cooked through and tender.

Top with parsley. Enjoy!

Oven Baked Italian Sausage and Peppers

19 oz sweet Italian sausage (links)

red bell pepper (sliced)

green bell pepper (sliced)

sweet yellow onion (thinly sliced)

oz crushed tomatoes with basil ((1 can))

garlic (pressed)

tbsp balsamic vinegar

oregano

tsp sugar

tsp red pepper flakes ((optional))

parsley (chopped)

Place the onions and both sliced peppers in the bottom of a 9x13&quot; baking dish.

Mix the balsamic vinegar, garlic, oregano, salt, and sugar into the crush tomatoes, then pour over the peppers.

Slice the sausages into about 4-5 pieces each and arrange on top of the mixture.

Bake at 400˚F for 30-40 minutes, or until sausage is cooked through (160˚F internal temp.)

Remove from oven and garnish with parsley.  Serve warm. Enjoy!

Giada’s classic Italian Sausage and Peppers Sandwich recipe made even simpler, in the slow cooker!

cherry tomatoes

tomato paste

red pepper (thinly sliced)

To a 4 quart slow cooker add the cherry tomatoes, both peppers, onion, olive oil, salt and oregano. Stir together with a wooden spoon to combine. Nestle in the sausages and parmesan rind so everything slightly covered in the pepper mixture. Cover and set the cooker on low for 6 hours.

Before serving, sprinkle with the chopped basil and parmesan cheese if desired.

*Serving suggestions: Serve sausages in a hoagie bun topped with the peppers, onions and tomatoes and melted cheese, over polenta or rice, or just as is with a side salad.

Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers

lb fully cooked chicken sausage links (mild or spicy)

red bell pepper,

green pepper,

red onion, halved then sliced (half moons)

grape tomatoes

Garlic cloves, peeled and minced

Few springs fresh thyme (about 1/8-oz)

tbsp Dry oregano

½ tsp Sweet paprika

salt (I use Diamond Crystal)

Black Pepper

Extra virgin olive oil

Set your oven to the broil function and arrange a rack about 6 inches or so from the heat source.

Score the sausage links in several places but do not cut all the way through.

Place the bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes in a mixing bowl. Add garlic, fresh thyme, oregano, paprika, a large pinch of kosher salt and black pepper. Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil (a generous drizzle of 3 to 4 tbsp or enough to coat the veggies well), and toss to make sure the vegetables are well-coated.

Arrange the  vegetables in one layer on a large baking sheet. Add the sausage, nestling the sausage links between the spread veggies.

Slide the baking sheet under the broiler for 8 to 10 minutes (watching carefully) until the veggies have softened and the sausage is looking nicely charred.

So easy, delicious and nutritious! I did substitute zucchini for the tomatoes since our family isn't a fan of whole roasted tomatoes and that worked great as well.

Chicken Sausage and Peppers

Enjoy the smoky goodness of grilled brats with peppers and onions. With just a handful of veggies, you&#039;ve got the makings of a great brats dinner in less than 30 minutes!

Grilled Brats with Peppers and Onions

bratwurst sausages

red bell pepper (cored, seeded and thinly sliced)

green bell pepper (cored, seeded and thinly sliced)

onion (thinly sliced)

black pepper

tbsp red wine vinegar

hot dog buns

Heat the outdoor grill to medium low.

Place the bratwurst sausages on the hot grill and allow to cook for five minutes. Turn and  cook another five minutes. Continue turning and cooking the brats until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees. This should take 15 to 20 minutes.

Meanwhile in a large skillet, heat the oil until shimmering. Add the peppers and onions and sauté quickly until tender, but still slightly crisp.

Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in the oregano and red wine vinegar. Toss the peppers with cooking tongs to distribute the seasonings

When the brats are done cooking, remove them from the grill.

Serve the brats in buns. Divide the peppers and onions among the brats. Add additional condiments if you like.

Serve immediately. (Optional- you can toast cut hero rolls for 5 minutes at 350 degrees, top with cooked sausage, peppers, onions and slices of cheese. Return to the oven nd bake 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted).

Prep your ingredients. I like to serve this recipe with egg noodles, but you can serve it with whatever you decide. If doing egg noodles/pasta, I suggest starting to boil the water as you begin cooking the sausages.

Add the olive oil to a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the sausage pieces until they&#039;re browned/crispy on all sides (about 8-10 minutes), then remove them from the pan and set aside.

Add the onion to the skillet and sauté it for 2-3 minutes (add more oil to the pan if it seems too dry), and then add in the peppers and continue cooking until they&#039;re tender-crisp. I like to get a little char on mine, so I cook them for a bit longer and ensure the pan stays HOT.

When everything is looking to be about done, stir in the garlic and cook for about a minute or so.

Add the sausages back and give it a good stir. Serve over drained egg noodles or whatever you&#039;re serving it with. Season with salt &amp; pepper as needed.

Slice the bell pepper and onions into 1/2-inch strips. Toss in a large bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper.

Spread onions and peppers in the air fryer basket.

Roll the sausages around in the basket to coat with oil on all sides. Nestle in the sausages.

Bake in air fryer at 350 for 7 minutes.

Remove from air fryer and cover with foil, allow to rest for 3-4 minutes.

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Sear sausage 2-3 minutes on each side,  (just until browned, they don’t need to be cooked through). (you can skip this step if you’re pressed for time, but it really adds a ton of flavor).

Place sausage on the bottom of your slow cooker. Top with strips of bell pepper, garlic and onion. Sprinkle with seasonings. Pour marinara sauce over the top and gently stir. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours (recommended) or on high for 2-3 hours.

For sandwiches: Toast hoagie rolls in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes or until charred around the edges but still soft. Place a sausage in each roll and top with peppers and sauce. Sprinkle cheese on top and broil for a few minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs.

For pasta: Cook your favorite pasta to al dente in heavily salted water. Drain. Serve pasta in individual plates or bowls topped with sausage, peppers and sauce. Serve with grated cheese and fresh herbs for topping.
