How to Make a Charcuterie Board (Cheese Board)

wheel brie cheese

blue cheese

cranberry cheese

oz cheddar cheese, sliced thin

wheel smoked gouda cheese,

genoa Salami, sliced

prosciutto, sliced

orange, sliced

red and green grapes

apricots

green olives

capers

mini pickles

almonds

peach jam

pepper jack peach jam

crackers, pita chips, baguettes

Arrange all the ingredients on a platter or wooden cheese board as desired.

Italian Olive Bruschetta

Italian Roasted Pepper Bruschett

Italian Garden Vegetable Bruschetta

Red Wine Salami (sliced)

Black Pepper Dry Cured Sausage (sliced)

Italian Herb Dry Cured Sausage (sliced)

Sweet Casalingo Dry Cured Sausage (sliced)

Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Soft cheese

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (for dipping)

Garlic & Parmesan Seasoning Spices

Garlic Pepper & Tomato Seasoning Spices

Crostini Original (bread

Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Seasoning Spices

Rosemary & Garlic Seasoning Spices

Baguette Bread

Veggies and miscellaneous crackers

Figs (sliced)

Almonds

Olives

Prepare board with parchment paper if not food safe. You can also use beeswax and mineral oil to season the board.

Slice meats, and place on the board with cheeses.

Wash and dry fruits and vegetables; thinly slice.

Place small bowls on your board and fill with olives, nuts and bruschetta (or any other favorite dips).

Lay down 3-4 flatter small dishes and fill with olive oil; sprinkle with DeLallo Foods dipping spices.

Place meats, cheeses, sliced baguette and crackers around the board.

Lay fruits and vegetables around the board.

Fill in blank spots with salami pieces folded in quarters.

skinnymixer's Cheese Log

g almonds

g macadamia nuts

g parsley

chives

tsp nigella seeds (optional if you can't source them)

sesame seeds

black pepper

g cream cheese (cubed, room temperature)

g blue cheese

gladwrap (large pieces)

Add nuts and herbs to mixer bowl, chop for 3 sec/speed 6/MC on or until finely chopped.

Add nigella seeds, sesame seeds and pepper to the bowl. Mix for 5 sec/speed 2/MC on.

Remove nut mixture to a piece of the gladwrap retaining 1 Tbsp in the mixer bowl. Flatten the mixture out with your hands into a large rectangle.

Add remaining ingredients and blend for 10 sec/speed 6/MC on. Scrape bowl down and repeat once.

Spoon even amounts of cheese mixture in a line down the centre of the nut mixture. Using the gladwrap, form into a log and twist the ends of each side tightly to remove air and compress mixture. Tie off ends, apply second piece of gladwrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or until ready to serve.

Epic Charcuterie Cheese Board on a Budget

Green Olives (Castelvetrano are my favorite, packed in water)

Black Kalamata Olives (packed in water)

pickled vegetables (optional)

olive oil olives

cornichons (they look like tiny whole pickles)

oz Bite-size salami circles

Salami

pepperoni

proscuitto

or other dry-cured sausage flavor

Pick 1 or 2 of these options

Mixed

Or mix and match nuts below, 10-12 ounces altogether

Pistachios

Walnuts

Cashews

Marcona Almonds (a bit pricey but so good!)

Apricots

figs

you only need about 5-6 ounces of dried fruit

golden raisins

grapes (less than 1 bag)

fig spread

apricot jam

blackberry jam

honey

Apple Butter

(it's

Tbsp Stone ground or spicy mustard

crackers

Pita chips

Bagel Chips

Seeded crackers or gluten free crackers

baguette sliced

Choose 1-3 of the options above

Use one extra large platter or wooden board or large cutting board to serve the charcuterie items.  A piece of slate tile from Home Depot works too.

Assemble the cheese board ingredients by placing the items in bowls on the board first.

Then place the grapes and different items around the perimeter to keep the ingredients from falling off the board.

If using thin slices of salami, fold them in half, then fold in half again. Line them up in an s-curve, or shape them around the outside of one of the bowls, or line them up in a row.

You can line up the cheese slices, nuts, dried fruit, crackers or bread, and meats in rows or little piles.

Cut the brie and any other cheeses that are shaped as rounds into triangles and place them on the platter.  Top the brie with jam or honey (and honeycomb) of choice.

Finish by drizzling the olives with a bit of olive oil if using olives packed in water.

If you want to make it ahead of time, make sure you have room in your fridge for the board or platter you are using.  Place all of the items except for the nuts, crackers and/or bread on the platter and cover with plastic wrap.  Leave room for the crackers or bread and place them on the platter before serving.

If your platter is too big to fit in your fridge, prepare the cheeses ahead of time by slicing them and top the brie with jam.  Then save about 15-20 minutes to style your board before guests arrive.

How to Make the Ultimate Cheese Board

soft cheese (mozzarella, burrata, Brie)

semi-soft cheese (Gouda, jarlsberg,blue cheese, Gorgonzola)

semi-hard cheese (manchego, provolone, comte)

hard cheese (Asiago, aged Cheddar, Parmesan)

cured meats – salami, prosciutto

baguette slices

assorted crackers and breadsticks

nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)

fruit (grapes, figs, apple slices, pear slices, dried apricots, dried cranberries)

Assemble ingredients all over the board until the cheese board is completely full and you can&#8217;t see the board.

Cheese boards can be as simple or as fancy as you’d like - typically 2-3 meats, 2-3 cheeses, a pile of crackers, and a few handfuls of snack foods that I pull from whatever is stashed in the pantry. You can pull something together in about 5 minutes or spend half an hour assembling something fancy.

Deli meats: ham (turkey, roast beef, or chicken)

Fresh vegetables

First, arrange the cheese around the board. Add the meats. Then, add the crackers.

Add little bowls or piles of pickles and olives. Small dishes of jam, mustard, and chutney can be added next.

Fill in the gaps with plenty of fresh vegetables, dried or fresh fruits, nuts, and other assorted snack foods. Dig in and enjoy!
