This pico de gallo recipe is fresh, delicious and easy to make! You'll need only 5 ingredients to make this classic Mexican dip—tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeño and lime. Recipe yields about 4 cups (about 8 servings).

Classic Pico de Gallo

white onion

lime juice

fine sea salt, more to taste

red tomatoes (about 8 small or 4 large), chopped

cilantro (about 1 bunch)

In a medium serving bowl, combine the chopped onion, jalapeño, lime juice and salt. Let it marinate for about 5 minutes while you chop the tomatoes and cilantro.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cilantro to the bowl and stir to combine. Taste, and add more salt if the flavors don&#8217;t quite sing.

For the best flavor, let the mixture marinate for 15 minutes or several hours in the refrigerator. Serve as a dip, or with a slotted spoon or large serving fork to avoid transferring too much watery tomato juice with your pico. Pico de gallo keeps well in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 4 days.

The suggestion to marinate lime, onions, salt, and jalapeño was awesome. I added half of diced red and orange bell peppers to it. 

It turned out great once the tomatoes and cilantro were added. 

I left the other bell pepper halves whole. I cut them into strips and grilled them with summer squash and some asparagus. 

If anyone needs leftover ideas. I drained and seasoned a can of black beans and a can of corn. Add it to the pico and mix it makes a nice lunch salad.

Thanks for the idea to marinate before adding the tomatoes. Changed the whole dish!

I made this and I’m not fond of cilantro. I saw your comment after I made this NOT to use parsley. I grow parsley so I had to substitute and I also threw in one fresh basil leaf too and it tasted great!  Love this Pico recipe!!

I love this recipe. I lived in Mexico for three year as and I love Mexican food. I really don’t  this recommend to marinate the Pico overnight because the tomatoes gets very soggy. One or two hours will be enough for the flavors to develop. I also add a couple of extra virgen olive oil... it gives it a delicious kick.

"Pico de Gallo" means "peck of the rooster" which relates to the somewhat spicy bite of the salsa when you eat it

Made this tonight with Carne Asada tacos. I used red onion and doubled the jalapeño (I like it hot). Maybe the best I've ever had. In any event, I'll never use any other recipe. Perfect.

The EASIEST Instant Pot Burrito Bowl in Existence! - Eating Instantly

(796 milliliters) can diced tomatoes

Add all ingredients except for toppings and cheese to Instant Pot in the order in which they are listed, pressing rice down a bit into the liquid as shown in the video below. Place lid on Instant Pot and make sure valve is set to seal. 

Press the pressure cook button and set to high, then cook for 5 minutes. Instant Pot will take about 10-15 minutes to come to pressure then pressure cook the 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare your toppings. Do a quick release of the pressure on the Instant Pot by flicking the switch at the top with a spoon. Open the lid when pressure gauge has dropped and the lid opens easily. 

Mix in cheese, stirring well to combine. Serve in bowls with desired toppings and enjoy!

FOR THE GARLIC LIME RICE: Rince the rice in a fine mesh strainer under cold running water for 2 minutes, using your fingers to rub the rice to remove any starch, set aside. Heat the butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the rinsed rice and allow to toast for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently so the rice doesn’t stick or burn. Add the garlic, continue to cook for 30 seconds or until the garlic is fragrant. Add the chicken broth, salt, and lime juice and allow to come to a boil, stir just once to break up lumps. Cover, reduce heat to low and allow the rice to cook for 12-15 minutes or until the water dries up. Let stand for 5 minutes before adding cilantro and fluffing with a fork.

Hawaiian Carne Asada Fries with Grilled Pineapple Pico De Gallo.

pineapple juice

juice of 1 orange (about 1/3)

sesame oil

pineapple

cherry tomatoes (halved)

jalapeno (seeded + chopped)

juice of 1 lime

sharp cheddar or swiss cheese (shredded)

Add the steak to a glass pyrex dish or gallon size ziplock bag.

In a glass measuring cup or bowl whisk together the soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic, jalapeno, lime juice, orange juice and sesame oil. Pour marinade over the steak, cover or seal the bag and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Preheat the grill, a grill pan or a cast iron skillet to medium high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil. Rub the pineapple with olive oil. Once the grill is hot, add the pineapple. Cook until lightly charred on both sides, about 4 minutes per side. Remove from the grill.

Once the pineapple is cool enough to handle, dice it into bite size pieces and add to a bowl with the tomatoes, onion (if using), jalapeno, cilantro, lime juice and sesame oil. Taste and season with salt if needed. Can be stored for up to 1 day in the fridge.

Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or grease with a little olive oil.

Cut each potato into very thin fries, lengthwise no more than a quarter-inch thick. In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil. I think I used about 2 tablespoons. Add the salt and pepper and arrange the fries in a single layer without crowding them (this is very important - I used two baking sheets). Bake for 20 minutes, remove and toss, then bake for 15-20 minutes longer. I like to start checking them at 15 minutes and make sure that none are burning or getting too crisp.

Heat a grill or grill pan to high heat.

Once hot, remove the steak from its marinade and sear the steak for 5-8 minutes, flip and sear another 5 minutes or until your desired doneness is reached. Remove the steak and allow to rest 5 minutes. Slice steak thinly against the grain.

Divide the fries among 4 plates or bowls and top with cheese (if desired place the cheese + fries under the broiler to melt) and sliced steak. Top with sliced avocado, pico de gallo, fresh cilantro, sesame seeds, crema or greek yogurt and Cajita Cheese. SERVE!!

I made this tonight but added garbanzo beans instead of corn. Garlic powder, an Anaheim pepper, two jalapenos (one with seeds) some Italian dressing, salt, and the rest of the recipe. It turned out great 👍

Made this as a Super Bowl snack for my husband, who’s on a vegan diet for health reasons. The only hot sauce I found in the fridge was Tabasco Scorpion so I might’ve overdone the heat a bit. He loved it though.

This is definitely "delish." I have made this tasty recipe too many times to count, and it's always very enjoyable and healthy at the same time!

I make one similar to this but I dice an
avocado or two in it.  Use green onion instead of red.  Salt and pepper and garlic to Taste and a splash of red wine vinegar.  The avocado is a must add!

And practically required to make this once a week!

I make one very similar -- That's the marvel of this recipe, you don't like jalapeno, you leave it out.  This is very much a custom recipe.  I like at least 6 different types of beans, mild chilis, sweet corn and shoepeg corn  as well as green peppers and other ingredients.  I use oil and vinegar along with a favorite Italian dressing.  I add so much in this salad that I have to pull out my largest metal mixing bowl !  There is ALWAYS enough to send home with guests.

PICO DE GALLO | How to Make Authentic Mexican Salsa Recipe

This fresh and easy pico de gallo only takes a few minutes to make and adds vibrant flavor to your tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and more.

tomatoes (2 cups diced) (1.50)

Finely dice the tomato and onion. Finely chop the cilantro. Add the tomato, onion, and cilantro to a bowl.

Squeeze the juice of half the lime over the vegetables in the bowl (about 1 Tbsp). Add a pinch or two of salt, and stir everything to combine. Taste the mixture and add more salt or lime juice to your liking. Allow the salsa to sit for five minutes before serving.
