Recipe from a book called Let the Kids Cook and put out by a local supermarket and distributed in a show bag at the royal agricultural show.  Cooking time is chill time.  Please feel free to use fruits that are seasonal at the time or what you like, after all the basis is the yogurt and mueslie and the fruit the decoration and for health when using fresh, use what is seasonal.

Muesli Sundaes

strawberries

blueberries

pineapple (small, peeled and diced)

muesli (toasted)

vanilla yogurt

Using four glasses (parfait are great), distribute half of the fruit between the four glasses.

Add a layer of yoghurt over the fruit and another of muesli.

Repeat layers and chill, then serve and enjoy.

Mmm, this is such a great dessert style breakfast! LOVED it! The yogurt goes so well with the crunchy muesli and fruit. Mmmm! Easy, nutritious, keeps for a long time (in a sealed container), easily "tweaked" to fit your personal tastes. A REAL kid-pleaser. Great for bringing snack on your child's turn at preschool/daycare. Although it may be wise to omit the ingredients containing peanuts (when considering a choice for nuts and regarding the peanut butter chips) as the allergy to peanuts is increasingly common and potentially life-threatening. Also great for a cooking activity with small children...wash their hands and let them throw handfulls of the ingredients together.

Kiddos Favorite Trail Mix

goldfish crackers or 1 cup other cheese crackers

cashews nuts

chocolate candies (or other chocolate candy)

peanut butter chips butterscotch chips

Throw everything together in a sealed container.

Store in cool, dry area (to prevent melting of chocolate candies/chips and other soft ingredients).

what could be bad? I added raisins, peanut M&Ms and honeycomb cerial (had them in the pantry) left out the chips. Kids and I loved it. It made a great car trip snack.

Slice up fresh strawberries until you have enough to fill a one cup measure.

Add to a blender or food processor, or if you only have a stick mixer, just put it in a large pyrex jug.

You may want to try this a little bit cooler for summer days, omit the water and add a few ice cubes.

I only leave out the ice cubes because my food processor can't handle hard ice.

Also it does tend to separate if you leave it sitting around for a minute, Don't let this put you off, just stir it up a bit, it tastes the same, just tends to be more frothy at the top then.

I tried this recipe with strawberries I had frozen along with a cup of vanilla ice cream and a cup of small ice cubes in place of the water.  It turned out cold and thick and was delicious!  My teenagers loved it.  Next time I'll make it using "Nutrasweet" in place of some of the sugar for myself.

This is basically fruit salad - on a stick! It's a great, healthy side for kids or elderly people who have trouble handling plates. It does take a bit of time to assemble, but the results look stunning at a baby shower, birthday party, or cookout! 
The goal is to make the skewer colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue. You can, however, substitute any fruit you'd like. You can also reverse the order in which you put the fruit on the skewer, and dip the bottom of the strawberry in chocolate. Have fun!

Colorful Fruit Kabobs

If using wooden or bamboo skewers, make sure all the splinters are off of them by rolling two together in your hands, or rub them over each other, as if you are sharpening a knife.

Cut the fruit that is not already small into 1-inch, or bite-size, chunks.

Then, skewer the kiwifruit or honewdew melon.

Then, finish the skewer with 2 blueberries on the pointed end. Make sure to push them up fairly high, so they don't slip off.

Simple recipe for cute fruit skewers. It's a great because you can really use whatever fruit is in season!

I created this one day when my 4yo was tired of the same old snacks. This was all I had on hand but I was able to put it together and give it a cutesy name so my daughter loved it! This would also make a fun breakfast. You could even substitute raisins for the blueberries. Personally, I am not sure about the blueberry/peanut butter combo but hey, my daughter loves it and that's what counts!

This is such a nice little treat. YUM! I truly enjoyed the combination of nut butter (I used a chocolate hazelnut one) and banana with the fruit bits (I used raisins). Yummy to the Tummy Clock

yellow capsicums yellow pepper

red capsicums or 1 red pepper

Spread cream cheese on a rice cake or pita bread to make the clock face.

Cut up little pieces of yellow and red capsicum and cut a couple of carrot sticks.

Stick the yellow and red capsicum pieces where the numbers go -- 

Then carrot sticks for the hands of the clock.

The big hand is on the 12, the little hand on the 4 --   -- time for a snack!

I used what I had on hand to practice making these for my grandson.  I used a whole wheat pita,  spreadable cinnamon cream cheese, dried raisens & cranberries for the clock face, & celery sticks for the hands. Too cute!  This would be fun to make with preschoolers learning to tell time.  Made for Pick A Chef Fall 08.

Put 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, 2 breadsticks and a few crackers on a large plate for each child.

Let the kids dip their breadstick in the peanut butter.

Then use the peanut buttered stick to&quot;fish&quot; for the fish-shaped crackers on their plates.

Such a fun little activity. I love the salty and sweet aspect of this snack!

Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl.

Cooking gluten free often means making what you need from scratch to avoid contaminants. I used trusted ingredients from my pantry to put this recipe together and could rest easy knowing the dish I prepared was truly gluten free. The side benefit to making your own homemade condiments, etc, is avoiding preservatives or other undesirable ingredients such as MSG. I really appreciate this recipe. It was terrific! One thing I would suggest is mixing the peanut butter and honey together well first, then slowly incorporating the soy sauce, oil and remaining ingredients. I threw them all together as directed and found that it took lots of elbow grease with the whisk to get the peanut butter to incorporate with everything else. When I make this recipe, I double the ingredients and freeze the extra in ice cube trays, to always have some ready to go. Most trays hold 1 Tb in each compartment, making it super easy to measure out.

Slice tomatoes and mozzarella cheese same thickness.

Arrange the tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil alternating in a circle around a decorative serving dish.

Drizzle with olive oil (and balsamic vinegar if desired).

I agree with the other comments (use fresh mozerella, etc.) It's hard to find in some areas. Trader Joe's has it. Italian deli's have it, if you are lucky enough to have one where you live. I just have one suggestion. Drizzle on some Balsamic vinegar along with the olive oil. I travelled all over Italy last summer and ate this salad everywhere. Many places added the Balsamic and it makes a good salad really good!

Beat milk, pudding and 1/2 of the whipped topping in medium bowl with wire whisk 1 minute. (Mixture will be thick.) Spread in crust.

Spread remaining whipped topping over pudding layer in crust.

Lemon Rosemary Dressing

Place the rosemary and garlic on a cutting board. Lightly crush both with a heavy knife.

Put the rosemary, garlic, and lemon peel in a clean bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid.

Pour in the oil and the lemon juice and cap tightly. Shake well.

This dressing will keep for a week in the refrigerator. Shake well before serving.

Very good dressing. Love the lemon and rosemary. I used a stick blender to mix together. I found letting the dressing sit for a couple of hours improved the flavors. We have used this on garden salad and fresh baby carrots extremely tasty! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

This medley can be used on salads, in soups, sauces, cassaroles and meat dishes. I will be using this in some of my recipes.

Fresh Vegetable Medley

Wash and cut tops of of the bell peppers.

Dice all of them up and mix them together in a bowl.

Store in airtight container until ready to use.

Place the warm water in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

Shake vigorously for a couple minutes or until the bouillon is dissolved and the catnip has given the tea a greenish tinge.

Serve &frac14; cup of the tea to your cat in a shallow bowl.

Store the remainder in the refrigerator. Warm before serving.

This was a winner with the kitties. <br/>I just used water, so this is a great way to get them to drink more liquids.

My mom helped me post this recipe. These candies are like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and are fun for kids to make because you don't have to cook them. My mom and I made these together.

Peanut Butter Balls

Stir together powdered sugar, peanut butter and butter until well mixed.

Shape peanut butter mixture into 1 inch balls, placing them on a baking sheet covered with waxed paper.

Let balls stand for 20 minutes until dry.

Melt the dipping chocolate or confectioners' coating.

Drop balls one at a time in melted chocolate.

Using a fork, remove from the chocolate, letting excess chocolate drip off.

Store tightly covered in a cool dry place.

Wow!! These are wonderful! I can't believe how easy they are. I used creamy peanut butter, and dipped them in semi-sweet and milk chocolate. That way everybody got their favorite.I put them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper to set. So easy and so good. Thanks for a great recipe. It will get a lot of use! :-)

Cook cut green beans in boiling water, if fresh, 5 minutes till tender crisp.  If using canned, just drain. Drain beans and rinse in cold water.

Combine fresh lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, basil, salt and pepper in a small bowl; stir well with a whisk.

Combine green beans with the tomatoes and toss with the vinaigrette.

Delicious! I made this with fresh green beans, and chopped plum tomatoes. I sauted the pine nuts for just a minute in 1 t butter. The dressing is really good. Very easy to make.
