Healthy Air Fryer Salmon with Maple Soy Glaze is delicious, and ready in minutes!

Air Fryer Salmon with Maple Soy Glaze

tbsp maple syrup

soy sauce (or gluten-free soy sauce)

tbsp sriracha hot sauce

garlic (smashed)

salmon (6 oz each))

Combine maple syrup, soy sauce, sriracha and garlic in a small bowl, pour into a gallon sized resealable bag and add the salmon.

Marinate 20 to 30 minutes, turning once in a while.

Preheat air fryer to 400F. Lightly spray the basket with nonstick spray.

Remove the fish from the marinade, reserving and pat dry with paper towels.

Place the fish in the air fryer, in batches, air fry 7 to 8 minutes, or longer depending on thickness of the salmon.

Meanwhile, pour the marinade in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and reduce until it thickens into a glaze, 1 to 2 minutes. Spoon over salmon just before eating.

Use this skillet version if you don&#x27;t have an air fryer.

In the basket of your air fryer add the salmon skin side down. Turn the air fryer to 400 degrees and cook for 10 minutes.  If adding asparagus add to the basket after 5 minutes.

Air Fryer Salmon Recipe

tsp Johny's seasoning (Note 1) (or your favorite fish seasoning

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F as you work on the ingredients.

Cut the salmon into 8 oz fillets. Tuck the thin belly side of the salmon under to create an even thickness fillet for even cooking.Drizzle with 1 tsp of oil and 1 tsp of the seasoning (Note 1) and pat it down firmly on both sides. Place the lemon slice on top of the fillet, if desired.

Spray the air fryer with non-stick spray and add the salmon fillets to the air fryer cooking rack, spacing the fillets evenly. Close the air fryer and cook for about 8 minutes to 10 minutes or until the fish registers 145°F in the center of the thickest part of the salmon fillet using an instant-read probe thermometer. Add the asparagus with a sprinkling of salt (1/4 tsp salt per 1 lb of asparagus) 4 minutes  into the cooking time if desired (Note 2).

Remove to a serving dish and serve while hot with a wedge of lemon.

Follow this keto teriyaki sauce recipe instructions to prepare the sauce but do not add the xanthan gum thickener. Let the sauce cool to room temperature.

For the teriyaki sauce:

In a small baking tray or casserole dish that’s just big enough to fill in all the salmon pieces, pour over ⅓ cup of the teriyaki sauce and marinate the fish skin side up for 15-20 minutes.

Teriyaki salmon marinade:

Line the air fryer basket with a thin layer of  parchment paper or an air fryer liner. Slightly drip off the marinade and place the fish, side skin down, in the basket and with some gap between the fillets. Discard the marinade.

Air Fry

Air fry at 400F for 7 to 9 minutes. The exact time will depend on the thickness of the fish and your appliance. Mine was done at 7 minutes for medium-rare and 8 minute for medium.

To thicken the teriyaki sauce, take ¼ cup of the sauce and add it to a small sauce pot. Bring it to a low simmer. Gradually and slowly sprinkle in 1/8 tsp xanthan gum while whisking at the same time to prevent clumps.

Check

The fish will be nearly opaque when cut into, at 120F (49C) at the thickest part. You can peek into the thickest part with a sharp knife or fork. It should flake easily, but still has a little translucency in the center.

Serve

Transfer the fishes to a plater. Glaze the salmon with teriyaki sauce. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, if using, and scallions. Remove the skin before serving. I recommend serving them warm.

Mix the salmon marinade together and pour over the two salmon fillets and let them sit in the marinade (skin side up) for 30 minutes, then drain and reserve the marinade.

Put your marinated salmon into the air fryer basket (skin side down) and cook at 400°F degrees for six minutes. 

After six minutes open the basket and spoon over, or brush on, more of the marinade. Cook for a further six minutes. 

After twelve minutes total cook time check the salmon for doneness and cook for a few more minutes if you need to. Exact timing will vary depending on your air fryer and the size of the salmon fillets.

Season your salmon fillets with olive oil, pressed garlic, salmon rub, and salt (to taste). I like this local salmon rub, but this salmon rub works well too. To make your own salmon rub, combine 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp thyme, 1 tsp smoked paprika, and 1 teaspoon brown sugar. 

If you’re using an oven air fryer, line the bottom of the baking sheet with foil. If you’re using the basket type do not use foil. Instead, spray the bottom of it with nonstick spray.

Bake the salmon at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes if using an oven air fryer. If you’re using the basket type, cook for at least 12 minutes and add more time as needed. The cook time will depend on the thickness of your salmon fillet. The thicker the salmon, the longer it will take to air-fry. Always make sure the internal temperature of the thickest part of the salmon is at least 145 degrees fahrehiet.

Pat salmon dry completely using paper towels.

Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a bowl.&nbsp;Add in 1/2 lemon (juice from the lemon) and stir.

Brush the mixture onto the salmon.

I leave the skin on the salmon fillets because it will peel right off once the salmon is cooked. Leaving the skin on will help prevent the salmon from drying out.&nbsp; Season the salmon with the spices and salt, and be sure to focus on the top edge as well as the left and right sides of each piece. Rub the spices into the salmon. This will prevent them from "sitting on top" of the salmon as it cooks. You want it to penetrate.

Place the salmon in the air fryer basket.

Air fry the salmon for 10-12 minutes on 360 degrees. Mine was ready right at 10 minutes. Use a meat thermometer and test that the inside of the salmon has reached 145 degrees.

Allow the salmon to rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Make the lemon garlic dill butter - combine room temperature unsalted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, fresh or freeze dried dill and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.

Pat the salmon fillets with a paper towel. Season the fillets with salt and pepper. 

Add the salmon fillets to your air fryer basket, placing the fillets on top of the lemon slices. 

Add a dollop of lemon garlic dill butter to each fillet.

Air fry at 390F degrees for 10 minutes, depending on the thickness. 

Optional: serve with another dollop of lemon garlic dill butter.
