Shrimp and Fish Sinigang  (Tamarind Stew)

(40 grams) packet Sinigang sa Sampalok (tamarind stew mix)

Finely chop 1 medium yellow onion and 4 garlic cloves. Trim the stem and seeds from 1 medium jalapeño, then finely chop. Trim 4 ounces green beans and cut into 1-inch pieces. Trim the stems from 2 bunches Shanghai baby bok choy and separate the stalks. Peel and cut 1/2 daikon radish into 1-inch pieces (about 2 cups). Quarter 4 small tomatoes through the stems into wedges. Cut 8 ounces tilapia into 1-inch pieces. Devein 8 ounces shrimp but leave the shells intact.

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a small pot or Dutch oven over medium heat until shimmering. Add the onion, garlic, and jalapeño, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high, add the tomato, and cook until mostly broken down, about 8 minutes.

Add 1 sinigang seasoning packet and 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add the green beans and daikon, and simmer until daikon starts to soften and the green beans are partially cooked, about 6 minutes. Add the tilapia and shrimp and simmer until halfway cooked through, about 2 minutes. Add the bok choy and cook until just wilted, about 2 minutes. Serve with rice.

These tacos don't come from a particular town or restaurant; rather, they incorporate elements from many different Yucatán grill masters. The preparation may look complicated, but it's actually pretty easy—because your guests assemble the tacos themselves.

Grilled Fish Tacos

white onion, divided

cilantro, divided

extra-virgin olive oil,

lime juice, divided

mayonnaise

avocados, peeled, pitted, sliced

½ small head of cabbage, cored, thinly sliced

Stir garlic, orange juice, oregano, 1 cup onion, ¼ cup cilantro, ¼ cup oil, and 3 Tbsp. lime juice in a medium bowl. Season fish with salt and pepper. Spread half of onion mixture over bottom of 11x7x2" glass baking dish. Arrange fish over onion mixture. Spoon remaining onion mixture over fish. Cover and chill 30 minutes. Turn fish; cover and chill 30 minutes longer.

Whisk mayonnaise, milk, and remaining 2 Tbsp. lime juice in a small bowl.

Prepare a grill for medium-high heat; brush grate with oil. Grill fish, with some marinade still clinging, until just opaque in the center, 3–5 minutes per side. Grill tortillas until slightly charred, about 10 seconds per side.

Coarsely chop fish; arrange on a platter. Serve with lime mayonnaise, tortillas, avocados, cabbage, Salsa Verde, lime wedges, and remaining 1 cup chopped onion and ½ cup cilantro.

Mild-tasting tilapia fillets get a kick of cajun spices in one of my favorite ways to eat blackened fish: soft shell Blackened Fish Tacos that are topped with a cool avocado and cilantro tartar sauce to finish each bite.

Preheat the oven to 425ºF and place a baking sheet in the oven to heat along with the oven..

Trim and divide the tilapia fillets in half lengthwise if purchased as whole fish fillet. Place the fillets on a plate or cutting board and sprinkle both sides and the edges generously with the cajun seasoning, then set aside.

Prepare the avocado sauce by adding the tartar sauce, avocado, cilantro, juice of 1 lime and a pinch of kosher salt to a food processor or a small bowl and process or mash until smooth. Add more lime juice and kosher salt to taste. Set aside.

In a medium size bowl, toss the cabbage with the juice of 1 lime and a sprinkling of kosher salt and set aside.

Once the oven has come to temperature, spray the hot sheet pan with cooking spray and place the seasoned fish on the baking sheet and lightly mist with oil or cooking spray. Cook the fish until they are opaque and easily flake with a fork, about 12-15 minutes.

Meanwhile, spray a large non-stick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium high heat. Add the tortillas one at a time to the pan and spray the tortillas lightly with the cooking spray. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until lightly golden on each side. Transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel. Continue with all of the tortillas.

To assemble the tacos, layer two tortillas together and place some slaw in the bottom of the tortilla with a few chunks of the fish. Add a spoonful of the avocado sauce and sprinkle with additional cilantro and a squeeze of lime, and serve.

These blackened tilapia fillets are dusted with bold Cajun spices and sautéed until crisp & flavorful on the outside and tender and flaky within.

Combine the paprika, brown sugar, oregano, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt in a small bowl; mix until well combined (use your fingers to break up the lumps of brown sugar). Sprinkle the spice rub evenly over both sides of the tilapia fillets.

Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large non-stick pan. Cook the fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side until reddish-brown on the outside and flaky on the inside. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Easy Fish Tacos Recipe by Tasty

In a large bowl, combine green cabbage, red onion, sour cream, lime juice, and salt. Chill until ready to serve.

In a bowl, mix cayenne, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Season each tilapia fillet on both sides with the seasoning mix.

Over medium-high heat, cook 2 fillets at a time for 8 minutes, flipping halfway. Repeat for the remaining fillets.

Using a fork, break apart the fillets into bite-size pieces.

Right before serving, heat the corn tortillas in the pan over high heat. Remove from the pan and assemble the tacos with the cabbage slaw and tilapia.

Air Fryer Tilapia

fresh tilapia filets (approximately 6 oz each)

chives (chopped)

parsley (chopped)

pepper (to taste)

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees

Pat fresh tilapia fillets dry with paper towel.

In small bowl, stir together olive oil, chives, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper.

Brush over top of tilapia fillets.

Brush a little olive oil over bottom of basket or spray with cooking spray.

Cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork and is no longer translucent.

Serve immediately.

Easy and healthier way to get crispy tasty fish. NOTE: you MUST use the right pan! Please be sure to use a broiler pan so the breading gets hot air on the bottom too and isn't soggy on the bottom when you go to turn it. OR use a cooling rack on a cookie sheet. Do not use a pan with sides as that will steam the fish, not make it crispy. I have never had the breading fall off using the correct methods. If you don't care for cornmeal use panko. 

I have used mostly mild whitefish like catfish or tilapia with great results. Don't be scared by the number of ingredients&mdash;it is mostly spices and herbs. Please adjust the spices, especially salt, to your taste. I have tried to post a balanced blend here but feel free to adjust mild, spicy, lower sodium etc...

Mix milk, vinegar and mustard and let set for 15 minutes. This will make a mustardy, buttermilky dressing to coat the fish.
